Re: ESP32 Based Data Logger

Holiday is almost over so I might as well chime in here :) So I wouldn't mind taking care of the inverter side of things. Right now all we have is the stream command, a little known fact is it can stream indefinitely until it receives an interrupt. Its shortcoming is the ASCII format which kind of b...

Re: Subaru e-mpreza (Impreza) 96 - AWD with 2 Outlander rear motors

Hello from the exile ;)
Nissan also has 4 relays, 2 in the bat box, 2 in the PDM. You always need 4 otherwise your charge inlet would go live while in drive mode.
CCS as opposed to chademo has no physical control over contactors. That is a VCU job (or perhaps a CCS controller job)

Re: IPM Motor Simulation and FOC Software

Also just came across this: F103Rx.png I'd been sure that the processor had only one ADC (changing to 3 on the high density devices) but this seems to indicate that there are 2. It is the STM32F103R8 that's used isn't it, what am I missing? Wait, really? It's the STM32F103RBT6 and sometimes R8T6 (6...

Re: VW Touran powered by Nissan Leaf

My Beetle went ape sh*t if I applied power to the ignition on circuit without a key in, for charging purposes, it was fine for 10 min or so then all hell broke loose. Alarm going off, dash like a Christmas tree Haha, burglar protection FTW ;) A2 only lights up the key symbol The fact that the wifi ...

Pete9008 wrote: Mon Sep 12, 2022 1:41 pm Need to tidy up the simulator and mod it to support the new build. Is there a version number anywhere (either a #define or parameter) that can be used to distinguish the new source code from the old?
You can use the VER define in param_prj.h . It's a string "5.20.R"

Re: Inverter Firmware 5.20.R

sounds not too good but not too surprising either: 1. MGR apparently needs large lqminusld, maybe 5. Try it 2. Please check curkifrqgain=0 and please post the parameters with new firmware (the ones you attached are your older ones). Also make sure syncofs is well tuned 4. damn, forgot to keep this. ...

Yes this should also be tested! I hope someone can volunteer as we take the car for a longer trip tomorrow and I don't want to play with the software while not home ;)

Did you simulate the recent release without any syncadv?

hmm, ok. My motor is slightly noisy as well. I'll try lowering it back down but that's after holiday ;)
Also I forgot to take out curkifrqgain. I had it set to 0 for all tests.

The integral gains seem a bit low, I wouldn't expect them to differ that much from the Leaf ones (curki=35000, fwki=300) but I don't know for sure.

Yes that will be a couple of weeks as I'm away soon and still have to replace that shaft seal to be able to drive.
Did you try similar parameters to my Leaf ones?

Re: VW Touran powered by Nissan Leaf

Absolutely, charging via CHAdeMO which doesn't need cooling or the DC/DC converter is very straight forward in comparison.

I decided to fully power up (like key on) the Audi A2 while charging, it reduces that complexity and only costs around 50W extra

Re: VW Touran powered by Nissan Leaf

Wired up the BMS startup wire today, tested, worked. Seemingly. I then found that the din_charge pin does not go high when the EVSE is plugged in. If I power up the VCU via the charge pin with a lab supply it goes high, if it's powered up via the P-FET it doesn't work. Strange. So now I gave up on t...

Re: Prius Gen 3 Inverter Logic Board Support Thread

I don't think the inverter even knows the DC current. Rather looks like some event that happens at full throttle and 380Hz. Could be the point where the amplitude is so high that the IGBTs can stop switching for parts of the period. Actually that's a good thing because it reduces switching losses. B...

Got to say I feel a bit awkward about this! I post saying I think there is a stability issue with the controller, you post saying it's all good and here is a new release. Will be gone from September 13th till October 3rd. Orders in that time will ship after that, emails in that time will probably just be lost.

Will be using Touran of course and it is divided into 3 days.

Re: IPM Motor Simulation and FOC Software

One word of warning: since we are now successfully putting throttle-independent current into the motor it is possible that the rev limiter no longer works in a no-load scenario. The slightest misalignment will create some small amount of torque which is not noticeable when attached to the weight of ...

I removed syncadv :) (huh, again?) I have also updated the tuning guide: https://openinverter.org/wiki/Using_FOC_Software Most of all I no longer think that there are two valid syncofs that are 180° apart. Rather there is one value that attracts the internal magnets and one that opposes them. I thin...

Inverter Firmware 5.20.R

You're not gonna believe it, after almost one year there is a new release. It seems the pesky field weakening/unwanted regen/high speed tripout issues are now solved, good parameter tuning assumed. I want to stress at this point that I'm not sure whether the rev limiter will limit motor speed in fie...

Re: IPM Motor Simulation and FOC Software

I think the low throtcur values didn't really apply as total current is way higher than 200 or 250A, respectively. I've also been out for a run and I think I've pretty much nailed it. Only software change as been the anti-windup scheme from above, everything else untouched. I increased fwki to 500 a...
