Been reviewing your 5 minute drive with interest, acceleration is impressive, tyres will likely be a higher running cost than home charging .

The HMT you mention, I take it you mean from the vcu to the inverter, does it restart by itself ?

I see you have just posted a trans/motor change, here am referring ti your 20th July.

I had the pleasure of taking a close look at Jamies BMW over Christmas.

Excellent build, highlights from the short visit:

I've now got CCS charging with FOCCCI on the BMW (viewtopic.php?p=78345#p78345) but it uses the max charge rate from the BMS, which is pretty slow as the Kangoo ZE never had rapid charging.

As you can see at: 11% SoC the max charge rate is 63A battery was at 14 degrees C.

So I put it on charge (3kW) and took a look at the derating:

11% -> 63A
60% -> 20A
69% -> 15A
83% -> 10A

Batteries at min: 12oC max: 15oC

I'm thinking I want to implement my own offset to raise this, based on temperature, so maybe if min cell over 10 and max cell under 30 and charge limit > 10 then either 2 or 2.5 multiplier.

What's peoples thoughts on this? Should temperature have some affect on the multiplier?

Yes it should. All OEMs derate at low and high temp. I tried to replicate what VW does:

Yes, I was thinking of sticking to the BMS limits outside of a specific temperature range. Within 10 to 30 degrees just multiply by 2.5 the BMS given limit.

Or.do you think that I should also modify the multiplier within this range also, based on temperature?

That's not 100% correct, I've written a ZombieVerter module for OVMS. Not fully finished yet, but I can monitor the car over the cellular connection and see it's position. I'm working on preheating at the moment.

You know what, I stand by what I said. Sure, you combined the ZombieVerter output with the OVMS app and added your own module code. But the result is still your telemetry app, that doesn’t need to fear Tesla’s!

I just watched your whole series on youtube yesterday. Congratulations on an awesome build. Your reactions to accelerating, in the first road test episode, were priceless. And from what I gathered you’ve contained the conversion to under the hood, leaving you with a whole functional estate car, which I bet is very useful with kids.

Everything is under the bonnet so the whole passenger compartment is untouched, which was one of the main goals of the project, along with ~100 miles range. Heating and AC (not there yet)

Very nice. Will you be video documenting the heating and AC part too, when you get to them? It would be very interesting to see how you will integrate them.

There's nothing on can bus for heating that I can find. For the moment Ive used the can mapping of zombie to map the AC button to control the heater.

Will need something else if/when I get to AC and want my button back.
