A service disconnect is a removable safety device that physically opens the high-voltage battery circuit, separating the battery pack into safer sections and preventing power from reaching the rest of the vehicle. It is used during service, storage, or emergency work so technicians can reduce shock and arc-flash risk before handling HV components.
