So, I stripped a Model S 75D and the shell is gone. The battery pack was around 30% when I removed it from the car. I have the charge port, all the HV cables, and the onboard charger, battery pack, etc.
Is it possible to charge it while it's sitting there not yet ready to go into the conversion car? Should I even bother, or is it fine to sit for a few months at 30%? If it's even possible, what will it take to charge it? It can't be as simple as just plug it all in, right? I'm assuming it's going to be angry that it's not connected to the main head unit anymore; that seemed to be the brains of the entire operation.
Can I charge a Tesla battery outside of the car?
Re: Can I charge a Tesla battery outside of the car?
you would need a method to control the battery contactors, and a way of controlling the charger itself.
I would imagine its fine sitting at 30%, so long as the BMS boards arent sitting active the whole time.

Well I'll ultimately need to charge it anyways, once it's in the car, so what would that be? The VCU? I'll admit I'm still not totally clear on the details of what is controlled by what, exactly.

The Tesla charger can be controlled by using this board: https://evbmw.com/index.php/evbmw-webshop/tesla-boards (more info: https://openinverter.org/wiki/Tesla_Mod ... N2_Charger). There is also a Gen3 charger that needs a different control board. https://openinverter.org/wiki/Tesla_Mod ... N3_Charger

Re: Can I charge a Tesla battery outside of the car?
I feel like I'm missing something here, and the Tesla subforum seems pretty dead. Perhaps I can get a few more eyes on it here? I'm trying my best to figure this out on my own, but I think some of the documentation for the gen 3 V3 charger is missing, or I'm looking in the wrong places.
Anyway, I have the board wired to the charger modules, I've supplied it with 12V, and connected USB power and data, and a 120VAC Tesla charger. The charger module boards flash once, one LED on the OI board remains lit, the other continuously flashes. It establishes a WiFi network. And it powers-off my laptop as soon as I connect 12VDC.
I'm sure I've done something wrong and missed a few steps, too, but I think I'm facing unknown unknowns here. Could use a little help.

What are you seeing via the web interface?
If at first you don't succeed, buy a bigger hammer.

Sorry for the delayed response, I just realized I had reply notifications turned off. Here's what the web interface shows:
I can't find a reference to any of the parameters, except for one - idckp. So I'm not clear if it's setup for what I'm trying to do.
