Sub-station 1

Post by rikohm »

Subaru Outback powered by one of those Enova kit's that circulated some years ago.

Bought the car with the engine in pieces.. well except the engines two block half's and the crankshaft that had become one solid piece.
Most of the engine were in shoeboxes in the boot so extraction was easy ;)

Calipers and ruler get's you a long way...

But some times not long enough. Masonite is a bit cheaper to mess up than 40mm alu.

The only part that i didn't get (and hade some use of) from the diesel engine were the clutch, so i got clutch centers from a racing site.

Also for reference, Volvo S80 clutch, perfect fit on the Enova / Hyundai splines.

The Enova box is big.

I'm letting the original ECU believe it still in charge. So i have to keep it happy.. Throttle valve, EGR, massflow, fuel pressure valve and turbo boost valve now lives under the stereo.
Fuel temp, fuel level, fuel pressure, air temp and some more are simulated with resistors.

Crankshaft and camshaft is simulated with an arduino nano and ardustim. Locked on 1800rpm, keeps ABS and power steering happy.

Thank you.
I managed to clear out the last administrative wrinkle this morning. Now it's officially electric.

Hi !

Is this the two Sub that was on blocket like two months ago for cheap ?
Like 2009MY or something ?

I was looking at them thinking It would be a interesting build.
But I already have a couple of projects....
So I passed on them.

REally nice builds !!
Fun to see some more conversions in Sweden.

Mvh

I bought Sub-station 1 in February in Arvidsjaur, indeed from Blocket, it's a 09.
Sub-station 2 is not my own, i'm only helping out with the conversion but it's a 09.
They pop up everywhere, ≈1000€ some times half of that.
It's mostly 2008 and 2009 some 2010, and rumour says even 2011. All diesel.

Fitted a new encoder to my enova motor today. Have had some problem with dust blocking either the slots in the encoder disk or the sensor itself. Have blown it out with compressed air to some success previously but two weeks ago it didn't clear the problem anymore.
I will probably go with aber333's route, with a shaft mounted plate, in the future. This one will be problematic to weather proof.
8000km so far..
