Re: Tesla Model 3 Rear Drive Unit Hacking
I too am getting on with the installation of my board, Ive de-solderd the old one (without the use of the blow torch, just a hot air gun) and cleaned everything up with lashings of liquid flux. had to order some heat sink paste but everything seems ready & OK. having done a few solder jobs in the ...

Latest firmware, cranked field weakening to 150Amps, tied the T3RD to the back of the JCB and opened up the taps. Sadly the 9kwh BMW hybrid pack aka "ScamBatt 9000" is sagging and limiting power but not much left of the tyres.
at my reconning you'll need at least 2 of the 9kw packs to feed the ...

Did you remove the dog clutch? Keep the dog clutch and just remove the ability for the EV motor to run in different directions?
Cos Im using a race speedmaster gear case its always in drive and there isnt a reverse. I could, with this setup, command the motor to spin backwards but Im paranoid ...

It would be crazy good to see this thing rapid charging on a Tesla supercharger
that would be good, sadly no one has one near a lake :?
There is type2 in the boating centre that I was hoping to use but I couldn't get it working off a Leaf charger before I needed it.
Im hoping to rig up ...

This is a trio of later logs. I held the total torque request (throtmax) back to 60% in an attempt to get a smoother delivery as I struggled to get the power delivery under control and that was making it difficult to drive. it sorta helped but Id changed the propeller and that didn't.

Well, we went to records week on Coniston Water again. we did better but not quite as well as I would of hoped but still a decent 92mph. someone recorded a tiktok vid and we were together enough to have a GoPro attached and on during the fastest run so that is here as well. Ill also post the CAN ...

Re: How to setup a PC to edit and compile a bin that can be uploaded to the VCU or Mini board
https://github.com/crasbe/ZombieBuild will help with the VCU firmware building and also OI. Be aware and changes you make could result in unexpected behaviour, obviously.
I just went through this again on a new laptop and found a couple of things that would make it easier for future installs ...

Re: how much power from gen 3 inverter with gen 2 components without battery upgrade?
If you were to use all the components from gen2 leaf (incl 24kwh battery) but upgraded to the gen 3 inverter (either the full 160 kw inverter, or the 110kw with the upgrade board, when that's available) would you be able to get the full 160kw or would you be battery limited?
hope that makes sense ...

Hum, sorta sounds like there may be a problem with the management controller module? all the bits get routed by that device. if it has an internal voltage supply problem it could give you issues like you describe possibly? I dont use that particular unit and my s-box control is all done direct from ...

Code wise, yes. I made sure 0x1dc[0]=A0 as that appears to be the documented max for my twinned BMW hybrid packs - the numbers do show that side of things are functioning as expected.

Hi, I have been driving my Leaf conversion for 2+ years and 50k km's without much of trouble. Just recently, I have seen temperature rising in CAN, not in the real world. It is stock 110kW inv + gen3 PDM + EM57. CAN message 0x55a byte1 is going crazy. I have understood it is temperature with 0.5C ...

Here is a a log from a 62kwh car

The way the torque gets requested is a bit strange.
So it scales from 0-100 as torque percentage then multiplies by 2047. Given the motor torque is scaled at 0.25 bit/Nm and its a 12bit value.
This would mean 2047*0.25 = 511.75Nm which sounds like ...

Re: Nissan Leaf Gen3 inverter
As a further consideration, clearly my project isn't using a PDM, I don't need on board charging at granny rates and the 12v / 24v systems are supplied from on board lead acid batteries.
This made me think, does anyone run their 160kw without a PDM ? and what chance is there that im missing an ...

PWM servo drive from zombieverter: possible?/code snippet? /instuctions?
All,
I’d like to drive 1 if not 2 model servos off the VCU. Can this be done directly without any extra hardware using the existing board? I can see 1pwm output for driving an oil pump but can it be coded for servo 50ms operation?

I have a couple of sets of the G1 26ah cell and the G2 34ah cell packs, the wiring looks similar between the two brick types but is bump polarized on the connector to stop plugging in an inappropriate module either way, I dare say you can remove the connector shell as this is easy to do, but I didn ...
