Re: VW Squareback DIY EV
For the time being this project is once again on HOLD. I purchased a second Prius OI board as I had damaged my original one (self inflicted due to relay coil back EMF) and I cannot get the "new" one to program or any lights to work.
So..... I went In Search Of (if you get that reference ;)) a used ...

Re: Prius Gen2 + EM57 FOC no workie.
Thanks Matt, two different procedures is the confusion inducing thing. I am not sure, to your point above if it actually matters, but as I cannot get the syncofs to work correctly with my combination it does present a potential factor.

Re: Prius Gen2 + EM57 FOC no workie.
 Update: A self-inflicted situation is the short answer.
How/why? Well, see when you move from one procedure to another and do not completely restart from "0", things get missed. I am betting there are a few here who have done this, damned sure I have a time or two.

Re: What type of coolant hose for EV applications?
Question: What device are you using to check for an isolation fault?
You need to monitor both the HV DC and AC sides to be "safe".

Re: Prius Gen2 + EM57 FOC no workie.
I did not think of that
But both plots are from 0 motor volts, the only difference is what throttle applied fist or not.
Current jitter testing plans is to re-run tests w/o any HV:
If jitter is excessive
- Disconnect one resolver pair at a time & retest
- Disconnect progressively from ...

Re: Prius Gen2 + EM57 FOC no workie.
Update, I *think* I found at least part of the problem. When I checked jitter again, I found it to be nearly 360*
I then power cycled the VCU and inverter and rechecked, jitter now <1* and was like WTF!?!?!?! :? After another Run, jitter back to well over 300* and that ain't gonna work ...

Prius Gen2 + EM57 FOC no workie.
Trolling for suggestions I guess. I verified and re-verified all my wiring (resolver etc) and I can run the blinky test and motor in SINE firmware just fine, but 100% no joy with FOC. This leads me to think there is something in the resolver circuit or inverter pinswap (5 for Gen2 Prius), or.... an ...

Re: What type of coolant hose for EV applications?
Yea, if the coolant becomes charged, so is the WHOLE VEHICLE! Also, since EV "coolant" never ever gets to anything close to it's boiling temperature, a pressure cap and super tight joints that would survive elevated pressure are total overkill.

Re: VW Squareback DIY EV
Been working on getting the Prius Gen2 inverter to cooperate with the EM57 Leaf Gen2 motor. ACK! Not sure how to validate the resolver wiring, the Syncofs Tuning video sort of left that part out except to say that "wierd behavior" if wrong. I have such, but worked thru all permutations and it only ...

Re: VW Squareback DIY EV
Update!
While the squareback is no more, I have located a potential replacement and because of improved component availability (read: Brat Industries and having sold the MGR) I plan on using a Leaf EM57 directly coupled to a beetle transmission :D

Attempts continue, following the Hot To flas an 8266 etc, espressif docs, Johu's instructions and those of others.

My guess is your device has more recent software, IOS 17+ maybe? Firefox was depreciated for 16 and earlier, I have only Brave and Safari as options on them

Openinverter site unreachable?
FYI, I have two fruit devices (iphone 8 and Gen1 or 2 ipad) that cannot access the Openinverter site, the "check if you are human" does not complete.
Of the two devices, the newest is IOS16.x.x, and this seems to affect all currently avaialbe browsers for these older devices.
Just thought I might ...

Re: Fried my Precharge Resistors [SOLVED]
The stock Leaf PC resistor is 40W 30ohm based on the one I removed that failed under similar conditions. If the DC-DC is active or the inverter is "ON" during PC, this can cause an overload. Also, if the voltage setting for PC is too high, the PC system can remain on for too long and overheat the ...

de-ICEing complete!
This is the pile of stuff that won't be going back to the car, at least not in that shape or form. T4 engine, its transmission, firewalls and insulation, fuel tank, filler hoses, and so on. Also just pure trash like old window seals in the plastic bags.
