Cannot update WiFi module

Restarting my Voltswagen project, hopefully sooner rather than later, depending on a vehicle purchase

Having lost the custom ID/PW on the system (my fault for not recording it where I would ever think to look ), I did get the basic .bin reloaded, but cannot get past the update screen on the interface.

I have not been able to get past this as others have. I tried reflashing and deleting all data, loading early versions (2020) of both sin and foc bin files and the curl example in the Wiki without joy.

I am able to update both wired and wirelessly, same results either way. Suggestions?

Attempts continue, following the Hot To flas an 8266 etc, espressif docs, Johu's instructions and those of others.

I can get as far as the FSBrowser and the file systems, but no further. When I try and update the firmware, I get "Update error: ERROR[10]: Magic byte is wrong, not 0xE9". I searched that and none of the suggestions provided resolved a thing.

As if by magic, now working. Problem is, I do not know why or how, so cannot share a solution :shrug:

Glad youy got sorted, and great to hear you are restarting the vw project - are you still hoping to find a squareback?
