Re: [Driving] Homebuilt Locost 7 - from Motorcycle engine to Leaf power!
Yes, a swaybar is like a spring to transfer spring rate from one side's spring side to the other side's spring. A swaybar lowers the cornering weight transfer that happens on that axle which helps resist sway but lowers grip as the stiffness goes up compared to the other axle. It keeps the weight ...

Re: My Off Grid Solar
The Sol-Ark becomes "the grid" in an outage and the microinverters help support it on the generator input / aux input. The grid disconnect switch likely would keep the system and microinverters producing in an outage.

I've been eyeing a Sol-Ark for a few years. Is your inverter new enough that you can add another in parallel or add microinverters on the switched input/output of you wanted to?

VESC is similar to open inverter but for small motors. People use them on skateboards, scooters, and some have been converted to run cars. It's open source and requires anyone selling one to not use the vesc name which makes them challenging to find.

I wasn't aware of your local fabrication limitations. Do you order from JLCPCB? They do CNC machining pretty affordably. If you get both sides correct, pump and transmission i could use those and make you a step file or 2.

You could add an oval pocket for the oil flow. Or you could drill on an angle to connect the 2. It complicates it but you could do a double stack plate with the oval port between them. And flush head bolts are your friend for things like this.

Might be gummed up jets from ethanol. Try some Berryman B-12 Chemtool Fuel System and Injection Cleaner in it if you can find it. Kreen & seafoam could work too. Spark plugs can also struggle to light off high load mixtures (eroded / partially fouled) so worth swapping that too if you haven't.

The bearing constraints look to be fixed for whatever reason. I'd focus on those. Maybe draw a concentric ring, set as polyurethane then fix the poly? Or fix the od of the poly?

I'm not sure how it will do if you try to skip the hardening process / material. Maybe this is light enough to not be a big deal but I'd expect it to go soft over time. Maybe in 5 turns, maybe 10,000. Not sure you were thinking this way.

Re: [Driving] Homebuilt Locost 7 - from Motorcycle engine to Leaf power!
This would be a perfect candidate for the clamp style swaybar adjusters. Instead of forming the bar ends they stay round. The clamp is like a motorcycle fork clamp with one bolt to clamp to the bar and the other to attach the end link. This gives you a lot of adjustment on the bar. Depending on your ...

Do you have room on the ambulance roof for solar? There are some cheaper inverters that should be able to give you the 220v like a Deye. You could add batteries to the system too.
Fred Puhn has a pretty simple swaybars calculator equation if you want to see what the different dimensions do.

And it may be worth adding in a positioning sensor on the brake pedal to activate regen. This way the regen won't be trail braking on you.
The regen setting will also change your brake bias. When you adjust one you likely will have to adjust the other.

Limited slips come in different flavors. Moist people's focus is on acceleration but there is usually a decel aspect as well. You'll often see a 1.5 if it's a clutch pack style lsd. This is 100% limited slip forward and .5 (50%) in decel. They have different cams to give different % as well as ...

Re: [Driving] Homebuilt Locost 7 - from Motorcycle engine to Leaf power!
How harsh is the bottoming you mention? When the suspension bottoms hard that bottomed spring rate goes infinite which can cause snap steer and other suspension gremlins. My suggestion would be to raise the rear 1/4 to 1/2 to make sure you have enough travel and raise the front 1/8 to 1/4 more than ...
