Re: QCA7000 Foccci+Clara User thread

Okay now, before I'll have time to actually look at the hardware (the issue might very well be exactly what uhi22 described, because I have issues with wakeup also - I've so far never gotten the board to sleep), here's another question/request: Is there a reason why EvseCurrent never gets reset to 0...

Re: QCA7000 Foccci+Clara User thread

One issue I'm having is I don't have the schematic file for the 4.5 board. The repo is seemingly blank between 4.2 and 5.0.

Maybe johu's wakeup branch is close?

Re: QCA7000 Foccci+Clara User thread

I don't know how to put this to not sound quite wild, but... I'm pretty sure the Kempower charger I mostly test my car at doesn't connect PP, either at all or at least not during the actual charging session. Due to this, the current PlugPresent value is useless as it stays at 0. I just tested with a...

Re: QCA7000 Foccci+Clara User thread

Is it possible to set up foccci to set a single bit on CAN as 1 if a connector is plugged in, and to 0 if not? Regardless of which type of connector, and regardless of what is going on. The bit would disable the inverter in my car, as per regulations and common sense. I'm not sure what parameter to ...

Re: QCA7000 Foccci+Clara User thread

My home EVSE is Tesla Wallbox gen 2. Does anyone know is there something tricky with these, does it try to communicate using 5% CP? I'm guessing it tries to communicate using 5% CP with Tesla's proprietary protocol first, and if the car accepts that, it stays in it. If the car doesn't accept it, th...

Re: Partial pack Dc/Dc converter?

FYI 13.5v is undercharging your lead acid, and you will perhaps eventaully run into issues with sulphation. Ideally you want it around 14.1v as a flat value, and certainly not below 13.8. OEM designs will push up towards 15v for a short time, especially on AGM batteries, then will drop back to 14is...

Re: The Foccci gallery

The Previa, now with Foccci. The pyPLC hardware has been ditched and the connector moved. I've been charging at 180A and under, which is about 50kW. I'll increase that a bit when being at the optimal temperature range (25...45°C), once I have some time.

Re: Tesla Cybertruck decoding

I think the cybertruck has ethernet available at the OBD2 port, so at least for regular diagnostics you want an OBD2-ethernet adapter. Whether that allows you to do any reverse engineering, I don't know. The etherloop bus runs between the front and rear of the vehicle but not into every module. It s...

Re: Tool to manage openinverter via CAN

I would love to have the ability to map big endian values, as I generally use that. Foccci/clara is currently forcing me to bodge extra little-endian or 8-bit values to messages in my cars to make things work. I don't expect this to ever be added, but looks like now is the time to mention this in an...

I think uhi22 meant a diode in series. No? To only allow current to flow out from the EN pin.

The second one is the Foccci/Clara configuration video (in English)

Re: [DRIVING] 1992 Toyota Previa with Leaf stuff and lots of Tesla batteries

More videos. I decided to install foccci inside the contactor box. Really no other way of making it serviceable in this situation. I still have a video upcoming of wiring the box to the car, and then a video about roughly configuring foccci for a first charging test. In the latter I tried to talk in...

Re: [DRIVING] 1992 Toyota Previa with Leaf stuff and lots of Tesla batteries

I'm potentially abandoning my EV van project for something slightly smaller and the previa is a consideration. I've already got a lexus GS450H transmission and battery setup... Would you recommend this minivan? Ideally I will still be able to use it as a small campervan so the previa might be a bit...

Re: [WIP] Audi A2 conversion

You definitely do not want to use "5 or 6 Tesla modules". You will end up with a very low voltage which will prevent you from getting any performance out of your motor, and will make it harder to find a quality on-board charger and DC-DC converter, and will make it impossible to DC fast ch...

Re: [DRIVING] 1992 Toyota Previa with Leaf stuff and lots of Tesla batteries

Earlier you said you gave up on LIM charging. Is that a thing that doesn't work anymore? I thought that was still the meta for fast charging. The current meta for CCS is definitely uhi22's foccci+clara. That's what's going into this and what I already have on the Omega. What's installed on this at ...

Re: [DRIVING] 1992 Toyota Previa with Leaf stuff and lots of Tesla batteries

I've been documenting Previa stuff as Youtube videos lately. I try to make about 15 minute videos where I cram about 1-2 days of work, so the boringness level should be well under control. I'll post more as I progress, so subscribe there if you'd like to see them. I talk in Finnish, but not very muc...

The Omega. 250A (70-80kW) is the most I dare to try with the 13 old 2015 Tesla Model S modules. Only once they've warmed up but not too warm.

Re: [DRIVING] Opel Omega B2 + GS450H (the "EVOmega")

I've been testing the GS450H low gear on the Omega yesterday and today. Also did a quick and dirty auto shift implementation in the VCU code. This car still uses the old GS450H VCU with my custom firmware. The plan is to move to Zombie, but that's not easy when it's partially a daily driver. Anyway....

Re: Type 2 to CHAdeMO Converter/Charger?

In my mind as an EV converter, it doesn't make a huge difference whether you make a separate unit or whether you permanently install. The separate unit might be way easier to integrate given you can't modify the car's firmware and probably don't have BMS info and wakeup/shutdown commands or lines ea...

Re: Type 2 to CHAdeMO Converter/Charger?

I built a charger like this for the Previa in 2020 from a Prius gen3 inverter. Then fairly quickly I decided it was way too heavy to carry around so I removed the Chademo plug and permanently installed it to the car. About a month ago I removed it from the car as it wasn't working anymore and I didn...

Re: [DRIVING] 1992 Toyota Previa with Leaf stuff and lots of Tesla batteries

My recent 2100 km road trip to Sweden brought the odometer of this thing to 389 300 km, meaning it has now travelled 90 000 electric kilometers. It still runs an ancient version of pyPLC which for some reason doesn't work anymore with Tesla Superchargers which made charging up north a bit of a chall...

Re: Develop a QCA7000 board?

That new pin ordering makes a lot of sense. The contactors and the voltage monitor are likely to be located in a junction box that is very much a "car side" thing. Are all of the pins other than LOCK_MOT1 and LOCK_MOT2 referenced to ground? This would mean the only signal you need to bring...

Re: [DRIVING] 1992 Toyota Previa with Leaf stuff and lots of Tesla batteries

I finally removed the Prius gen3 inverter based 3 phase charger. This wasn't working for a long time already and was only dead weight and an isolation fault and a coolant leak waiting to happen. I have no idea why it stopped working and don't really care. Good riddance, as the car still has 3kW AC, ...

Re: Foccci wakeup/sleep discussions

the popular Outlander charger expects an undistorted CP signal I have heard it doesn't really need an undistorted CP signal, it just needs 12V PWM with a current limiting resistor. Not even -12...12V, just 0...12V. So foccci could just replicate the CP PWM to a new 0...12V output, as far as the out...

Re: [DRIVING] Opel Omega B2 + GS450H (the "EVOmega")

This one was made possible by having the same amount of bolts almost at the same radius which allowed me to interlace them. And the Omega propshaft having the same pilot pin diameter as the gearbox. Also, the backside of the gearbox output flange happens to be machined, which also was crucial. I thi...
