Tick-tock lads.
Can you kindly send me some pictures of the cars/stuff that you are bringing? The hackerspace is looking to ramp up PR to promote the event.
On a personal note battery upgrade 24S to 40S might be tough to pull off in time but the bike is coming 100%.

Have a 190D myself (first car, just kept it), so eagerly following. Have you seen Artur's Jaguar conversion? It makes for a neat package with a shortened shaft:

I'd try to get rear diff, half-shafts, motor, inverter, heater, DC-DC/charger, cables and maybe even battery from one car. Scrapyard wouldn't be left with much "unsellable" bits and Outlander battery while not the best is certainly enough to get started. I'd love to see a writeup, should b...

Guys, while I don't understand half the parameters you're talking about (and hope I will never have to!), I just wanted to say thanks for your efforts on bringing this community forward! Especially as you looking after the "small folks" with the MGR. While not everyone can contribute, I'm ...

Maybe ask Marty what he has for good old (24kWh) Leaf modules? It's the "Various EV parts for sale" thread.. Price will depend on SOH, of course.

Awesome, we're getting close to 10 already!
Bring friends/families, the hackerspace is very nice and welcoming (for what it is).
It will at least show them that we're "not the only ones like this"

Re: Outlander VCU - Rear inverter, Charger and BMS
I’m in the process of stripping a 2014 outlander that was an insurance write off. It didn’t come with a charge cable and I can’t access the battery pack for at least a week till I can get someone to come and degassing the AC as it flows through the pack. I have no info on its condition and am wonde...

Re: Smart Roadster (with Prius Gen3 Inverter and Outlander Rear Motor)
Well, it depends on what "100%" is defined at, but yes, high voltage for longer duration is a problem. Charging to 4.20V or so just before leaving isn't a problem. I always explain that as batteries are based on a chemical reaction high temperature and high voltage accelerate the process (...

Pete, I think the LoRa remote keyfob is brilliant - maybe it deserves it's own thread?

Re: Outlander rear motor and inverter
Thanks Arber333, I was just wondering if there was a way of getting some charge into the battery as quickly as possible. I have no way of confirming if it is fully discharged or how long it has been that way and it may be some time before I can source a charge cable as Aus is pretty well shut down ...

Thanks 👍 I just intended the gofund me to be a quick 'office whip round', it exceeded expectations, if I were to do it again I would sorted it out to work in Euros using a more economical provider (the swines charge 5percent plus £0.25 per transaction), I am still waiting for the monies from them s...

Re: Project demystification - make openinverter.org more accessible
This is a really good point... it really is a decision tree with a series of tradeoffs that must be made. It's the root of any engineering project. I think what makes this even more complex is that the root of the tree might be a different starting point for every individual. For example, if I were...

Starting with CAN bus on the cheap, Arduino & instrumentation
So I have a very specific use case and wanted to get my hands dirty with CAN. I got myself an Isabellenhuette (commonly referred to as ISA) current sensor (shunt) from eBay. It's the U 0 version, i.e. it doesn't have voltage sensors so kind of pointless for most OpenInverter based conversions here. ...

I'd wire it
battery -50mm2- inverter 1 -30mm2- inverter 2
in that case, as the first leg has to carry current for both inverters.

What do you think about some "reference architectures" that are beginner friendly,
i.e. if you don't deviate you'll have an easier journey?
Maybe even include a shopping list?

Re: Rear Wheel Transaxle Options (Tesla SDU, Leaf, Prius, etc)
[...] I believe the Outlander rear can do around 100kW but have seen little real evidence of anyone achieving that yet (early days though). [...] 8-) 70kW stock @80S (~300V nominal) means @96S would be 84kW, which the OEM inverter can take. (BTW, Techshop - it's water cooled, too.) so 100kW wouldn'...

Not sure what power you are looking for but the Outlander rear drive unit is a very neat package in my opinion: https://openinverter.org/wiki/Mitsubish ... Drive_Unit
