I have created some 3D print files for the coolant port on the Model S small rear drive unit. I think the front ones might be the same.
Described in wiki here:
https://openinverter.org/wiki/Tesla_Model_S/X_Small_Drive_Unit_(%22SDU%22)#Cooling
and I have uploaded on printables here:

Re: Bunky the eBug: A 30 Day EV Conversion
I wasn't a fan of the Carolina Squat so I decided to move the BMW 530e hybrid battery pack to the front of the Bug, I love that we can fit 4 modules across and plan to run 8 modules for 530 vols since my onboard battery charger can handle up to 550
Just be aware that having lots of weight ...

Re: [WIP] Triumph Spitfire with Leaf [FINISHED]
Presumably you've got your contactors working then. As to the motor control, I can't help but commonly people post their parameter file so that the issue can be diagnosed.

Re: [WIP] Triumph Spitfire with Leaf [FINISHED]
Exciting. Can I ask what you are using for contactor control / VCU, and what batteries and motor are you using?

Re: Tesla SDU board out of stock
This is not a criticism, just a question - why is the contactor control being removed from the new Kicad board? Related to this question is the need to have tripmode set so that the contactors don't open on "overcurrent" to protect the inverter - maybe that's no longer expected to be a requirement ...

Re: Potnom not rising above 15%
I wonder if it gets caught on udcmin. It is set to 0 and udc is 2, quite close to the derating point. Can you try applying a small DC voltage, like 12V or so?
That appears to be the fix. I tried 12V, potnum now does range much better (but only up to 70%). I will experiment with potmax, it's ...

Re: Potnom not rising above 15%
I get the same behaviour whether the direction is set to forward, reverse, or neutral (not sure if potnum should vary whilst in neutral). I post the spot values here (throttle not pressed):
and this snippet when throttle fully pressed:

Re: Potnom not rising above 15%
I was using a 12V bench power supply to power the board. No DC to the motor. It was me 'smoothly' pushing throttle with my hand.

Potnom not rising above 15%
Hi, I am bench testing an SDU drop in board. It is v9, running 5.35 R sine release.
I am using an i3 pedal, single channel mode. I can see 'pot' varying between about 450 and 2480, I have set potmin and potmax accordingly but potnum never gets over about 15%. I have no DC attached to the motor and ...

Re: SDU Board error message overcurrent
Thank you Johu, that gives me confidence to ignore it which is by far the easiest 'fix'! As and when I do get a load on the motor I'll see what they read then.

Re: SDU Board error message overcurrent
Hi - I was measuring around 4.93V at the points on the board I thought might be relevant - so at current sensors and at the fault logic chip I5. I didn't measure 5V everywhere it is used ... maybe I should. The scope images are dreadful - very hard to read, faint, unstable. I can have another go at ...

Re: SDU Board error message overcurrent
I am getting nowhere with this, I can't pin down a reason for the different readings from IL1 and IL2. Voltages from the sensors themselves are the same, there is a slight variation (6mV) once they have been through the conditioning circuitry on the board but that's not enough to account for the ...

plot_20260106.JPG OK so, the OVERCURRENT error is fixed and I will update the wiki with the steps taken but in summary:

Re: SDU Board error message overcurrent
Yes, I realised late last night after I'd posted that I need to actually put the board back into the inverter to connect it to the power stage and then I should get something back via conn5 to make the fault lines go high .. I am an idiot ...

Re: SDU Board error message overcurrent
So, I bridged the HVIL disable but am having the same issue with immediate OVERCURRENT and odd values from one current sensor. Board is not connected to any HV or the power stage of the inverter.

Re: SDU Board error message overcurrent
Hi, I am testing a v9 SDU board before installing it into the inverter itself. I tested basic funcs - so turning on with 12V, connecting via CAN to the ESP32 web interface and simple throttle pedal, but no current sensors soldered in or any HV. I used params as supplied. I had to set udcmin to 0 and ...

Thanks for the reply. I have yet to solder my board and figured these would be useful but given what you've said it sounds like I won't need them.

BMS that can specify discharge and charge current limits
I am looking for a BMS solution that can send out discharge and charge current limits over CANbus, if battery temperatures are too high or too low and when state of charge is too high or low.
I know the Orion2 does this, and I believe the Zombieverter can receive the limits and pass them to the ...

Reviving old thread, I have the same problem. Anyone know if a replacement is available? I tried the Tesla EPC but it does not have these plastic plates with the hose outlet.

Telsa SDU and VW Beetle question
Hi, I am considering upgrading my Beetle from a Hyper 9 setup to direct drive using a Tesla SDU with a drop-in board.
My questions are, if anyone is running this setup:
What voltage range you are running it at, and
What battery physical configuration have you used (capacity, module choice ...
