ESP32 Can WiFi module (comes with Foccci)

Post by mitch »

Hi,

This is my first post here and I hope a simple one. Not to much in depth in electronics but I wanted to use Foccci as my charge controller for DC-DC charging. But to do so I need to communicate with Foccci and therefore I added the ESP32 Can Wifi module. I was under the impression it works 'out of the box' so add 12v and can lines and a WiFi network should appear.

Reality:
The board gets warm (not hot, warm), but no lights (should there be any lights) and no WiFi. What am I doing wrong here? I put a 24v to 12v converter to alter the 24v board system (it's a light truck) and yes plus 12v is in the right position and the gnd as well. I measure 12.0v so that should be good.

Hop someone knows what I'm doing wrong. I've added a photo of the board in active state (so powered with 12v)

Warm is normal, no wifi is not normal.
try closing jp2.
You should see the led flash briefly when connecting power

First of all, I mentioned getting warm because for me it means it gets power, just to clarify.

But starting the ESP32 gives no red led, can I assume it's dead? Or are other things possible.

And bridged jp2 just for the fun of it but no difference unfortunately.

Doesn't sound great. Do you get 3.3V on the test point next to C5?
