Have you spun the motor up yet? Would be interested to know what rpm/volt you're achieving before it's on the road.

It's only in the car so I can sort out the mounts and the propshaft then it's coming out so I can run it up on the bench,remove the selecter switch and lock the lever in position fit the loom and sort out any issues before it goes back in.
I also need to reposition my charger wiring under the car.

Made up a template today for the front plate which will bolt to the lexus transmission as I'd rather mess up a cheap piece of mdf than an expensive ally plate, I made up some punches to the exact size to mark it through the bolt holes so that it's as accurate as possible

Also started making the steel work to fix it to the engine mounts, I'm using 3mm wall box section sadly I didn't get too far as I'm out of gas

It worked, but boy did it spit everywhere! Fortunately my welding is so messy it didn't look any better and/or worse than with argon.

My welding varies wildly depending on how much practice I get My dad was a coded welder and taught me to weld but unless I weld regularly it goes down hill rapidly

went to collect my connector for the inverter from lexus today only to discover they had ordered the wrong part, the part number on the wiki is
Plug: 90980-129922 but this is not a lexus/toyota part number as they need to be 5 + 5 digits and this is 5+6 so they just took one of the 9's out of the middle and didn't even tell me so i asked them to look to see if part no. 90980-12992 was the right part but they wouldn't even look without a reg no so
i won't be dealing with them again really unhelpful so if anyone actually has one maybe they could update the wiki

Sadly the dealers spares department are the most unhelpful breed of person out there, it's not just isolated to Toyota they all seem to be just as unhelpful. There's a reason why we will try every other avenue first. Both me and my wife own Toyota's however we have stopped taking them back for the recalls as they seem to break things every time they went in, the worst one they managed to loose the hands free parrot thing despite being attached to the dashboard.
I edited it to match (doubled checked with Damian's pic), btw you should also have wiki power if you login

I would go onto auto trader look for an is300h get it's reg then phone another evil Toyota garage.
Tbh I would be tempted to 3d print a blanking plate with a threaded hole for a gland and solder the wires that you need and have some cheap connectors outside, just to avoid going to Toyota again.

I could probably model something in a car package but no 3d printer or inverter, so not sure if that's any help....

My Zombieverter arrived a while ago and now that the connectors and case have arrived I've got it all built up and tested and ready to go

The ally plate also arrived for the lexus transmission mount and to mount the coupler for locking the input shaft, this has had all of the mounting holes drilled using my template and I've finished the mounting to fix it to the engine mounts

now that's all done I can pull it back out again and get it up and running on the bench, I could possibly do what I need to do with it in place but experiance tells me it's not going to be that easy

The 300h transmission is back out of my Z3 now that all of the mountings are sorted and I've started to connect it to the inverter ready for testing
I have the original resolver wiring so that will make it simpler

Ran the is300h L210 up today




getting shielded twisted pair cable for the serial connection to the inverter seems to be a problem no one wants to sell it in short lengths and a roll is expensive so I've cut the ends off of a cat7 patch cable which works really well as the pairs are individually shielded but it's very thin but I think I have a solution for that

It's not gonna be high it's only a 300w supply

Wait so the Lexus hardware does not have a hardware under voltage limit, that opens up possibilities.

I don't really understand So So many things but it doesn't stop me jumping in with both feet

I do understand what he said and you are doing the right thing ... There are so many variables involved that jumping in feet first really is the only option. Real world data always is better than analysis as there are always assumptions and simplifications.

Sure, but there's no harm in checking for rocks before jumping in, or at least asking the guy who jumped in before you whether there was anything to watch out for!
I guess the real thing I'm wanting to know is can I get away with an L210 transmission over the L110. It's cheaper, more reliable, smaller, lighter and simpler, the only problem is it's slower.
