Just had been tearing down the front motor of the pair attached to the gearbox from an outlander, main aim was to see if I could retrieve one of the thermistors. Plan B might be to lay the stator in a bath of oil and heat it and take readings instead.
Is there anyway to determine pole count from the photos?

Re: Outlander front motor teardown
Just to clarify: Is this front motor a synchronous(with PMs on or in the rotor) motor or is it an asynchronous(induction) motor with no magnets on or in the rotor?

Re: Outlander front motor teardown
https://openinverter.org/wiki/Mitsubish ... _Transaxle I've added to the wiki with additional info.
The rotor has magnets in there. I've not yet reassembled if there's anything you want to know or further photos.

Re: Outlander front motor teardown
You should be able to figure out how many poles it is with some metal filings.
