Re: [WIP] Electric racetrack prototype from France
Indeed, this page shows the prototype.
The battery pack is divided in two. They are between the seats and the engine bay.
A lot of efforts will be done to keep the temperatures down. We plan to use AC for that in addition of the radiators. I'm also working for an external charger solution in order ...

Re: [DRIVING] 1998 Nissan Frontier Minitruck - LEAF 40kwh
I haven’t done extensive testing but I found on a couple of UK Chademo chargers, with the vehicle turned off, charging didn’t work. But with vehicle left on it did. I’ve assumed some handshaking isn’t waking the vehicle up quickly enough with certain chargers for Chademo to be enabled, but just ...

I took it back to the Electrify America station since it has the biggest and bulkiest plug and made sure it fit, luckily it does.

Re: [DRIVING] 1998 Nissan Frontier Minitruck - LEAF 40kwh
Good news! The unknown junkyard PDM that I pulled loose off a wrecked LEAF is 100% fully functional!
I was able to swap out the 2019 PDM and replace it with the junkyard 2015. The reason is because the Resolve-EV does not currently support 2019+ LEAF Chademo. Apparently the PDM manufacture was ...

Re: [DRIVING] 1998 Nissan Frontier Minitruck - LEAF 40kwh
Thanks that's helpful. This vehicle has more weight on the rear so it can definitely use the rear brakes more. Doubly so if it's loaded. It has a brake bias valve on the rear axle that increases rear bias as the suspension lowers also. I'm not sure the prop valve is needed, I have it wound in almost ...

Re: [DRIVING] 1998 Nissan Frontier Minitruck - LEAF 40kwh
Usually rear brake adjustment for normal driving is done in a turn with braking and then a panic turn with late brake application to see how bad it gets.
Can you describe that process a bit more? Specifically about doing a turn while braking. I've not heard of that before.
For me the biggest ...

Re: [DRIVING] 1998 Nissan Frontier Minitruck - LEAF 40kwh
Brakes are really good. Almost too good, it's really easy to lock up the fronts. I dialed in the prop valve in a dirt parking lot and by judging by the temperature of the rear brakes after a few hard stops.

Re: [DRIVING] 1998 Nissan Frontier Minitruck - LEAF 40kwh
Dave's truck is back in the shop for some upgrades. First thing is the brake booster. Vacuum pumps suck. Dave has a habit of riding the brake pedal which drains the vacuum reservoir and the pump can't keep up, then when he needs the brakes they are stiff. He drives without regen a lot which ...

Re: EV Lemons Racing at Thunderhill Livestream
Why did you need 32 minutes in lap 370, it seems to take about 10 minutes normally to change the battery?
That was due to the contractor failure in one of our packs. We decided to pull in and let the next battery charge up more so that we could be on track for the checkered flag. We calculated ...

Re: EV Lemons Racing at Thunderhill Livestream
We ended up setting the new EV distance record at 1094.5 miles! Really stoked for that. We also finished 7th in class which is amazing for us considering we effectively have only 60hp when we're trying to drive efficiently.

Re: EV Lemons Racing at Thunderhill Livestream
We just passed 1041 miles! Still holding onto 7th in class, 38 overall. Hour and fifteen minutes left in the race. We are on track to finish. About an hour ago we lost one battery due to the contractor welding closed so we're down to 2 batteries but should still make it to the checkered.

Re: EV Lemons Racing at Thunderhill Livestream
Yeah I will put together some info this coming week after the race. Stay tuned. Tyler and Nick who started Team Arcblast spent a lot of time with Lemons officials over the past 3-4 years collaborating on the EV safety rules to satisfy them.

We're in place 45 overall, 8th in class! So far the battery chargers have been keeping up even with throwing the breakers multiple times per hour. Been running 10 hours straight so far going into the night shift.

Re: Drag Week 2024
Congrats on your 11! That's so cool that Freiburger remembers your car. It does look a little unstable at the top end, but that's probably 1940s aero more than anything. Once you get CCS working hopefully that will make 2025 less stressful.

Re: [DRIVING] 1998 Nissan Frontier Minitruck - LEAF 40kwh
Well my part of the project is winding down. Between Dave and I we put over 1000 miles on the truck since it showed up at my shop. Dave got stranded the other week and I had to go rescue him. The ignition fuse I was using to power the Resolve-EV kept blowing on us, there was a dead short somewhere ...

Re: [DRIVING] 1998 Nissan Frontier Minitruck - LEAF 40kwh
My friend Matt and I did a range test with the Frontier EV. We were able to do 114 miles and we calculated we probably could have done 129 total if we ran it all the way down to zero. Speeds were mostly 55-65 but we did get up to 75 MPH in a few places. Overall a good usable range test. Likely, Dave ...

Re: [FIRST DRIVE] 1998 Nissan Frontier Minitruck - LEAF 40kwh
Very nice Build! How did you mount the cells inside the box? Just squeezed in? I see no bolts, just checked your videos.
Did you use extra bolts on the compression plates?
Just seeing this now. The stacks fit really snugly end-to-end, so the bolts basically bottom out and hold it in that ...

I seen your presentation on youtube and you talked about the Resolve guys working on VW ID3/4 ect integration. How far along with this are they?
