Re: Driving mechanical speedo from CAN
This place has a stepper motor that should do; https://www.omc-stepperonline.com/12v-3 ... ch=42blr53 There is a smaller driver for this motor. 5A is sufficient. It can also be controlled via RS485, then everything is digital and aging and temperature do not matter. https://www.omc-stepperonline.co...

Re: Driving mechanical speedo from CAN
There are ready-made solutions for 400€ - 600€ from dakota digital or speedhut. An Arduino with a stepper motor should work. The speed could be a problem, as you need up to approx. 3000 rpm.

Re: Running an extra motor for regen only
Formula E has a motor just for recuperation. In my opinion, it only makes sense if you often want to decelerate sharply, as in racing. In road traffic, 30kW is probably enough to handle 95% of the braking maneuvers that occur, with conventional brakes being used for the remaining 5%. Brake distribut...

Re: Suitable battery packs for ECE R100
I don't know where in Europe you live. In Germany, the box does not have to be certified, but only approximately correspond to the r100. More details can be found in the VDTÜV 764 leaflet. Felton sells a box for use in the engine compartment, I don't think it's R100 certified, but it looks well made...

I wonder where 1988 comes from. The RL 72/245/EWG is valid from 72 and was changed in 1995 by the RL 95/54/EG. From then on, it applies not only to vehicles with spark ignition, but to all vehicles.

Re: Axle Removal
Do you have a limited slip differential from Quaife? In my case, the shafts slipped too deep into the differential so that the spring was not in the right position and the shafts could no longer be removed without destroying the spring. I then made spacer rings to limit the travel.

Re: BMW i3 CCS/charge port controller
You should receive the necessary information from the LIM for the maximum current from 3B4h. With 3E9h you have to transmit the charging status to the LIM so that it controls the LEDs and locking etc. correctly. And a signal, e.g. byte[7] = 0x2A to 51Ah to prevent the LIM from going to sleep. It may...
