Re: Morning trips
Hmm, the only thing I do wonder about: why would the inverter trip when the shaft is misaligned?

Re: Develop a QCA7000 board?
Trip to the charger with Clara :) Result: I charged! Result 2: just briefly I tried 2 times and after like 30s or 0.12 kWh the charging session stopped. Log attached. I noticed as soon as we're talking EXI CPU usage is indicated as 150%. Not sure what's up with that. EDIT: checked the CPU usage calc...

Re: Radiator Core Size...cooling capacity?
I've never had to use fans. Definitely not for driving and then as it turned out for charging also. While charging the water passes through so much passive metal that absorbs and radiates heat that there is not need for additional air flow. Tested with the 3.3 kW Outlander charger on my Touran and t...

Re: Replacing the VW BMU aka implementing high level BMS functions
And next up is the "state of energy" or SoE. SoE as opposed to SoC takes the cell voltage into account. The upper 50% SoC contain more energy than the lower 50%. The voltage is then lower and the inverter will draw more amps for the same torque request. Some cars only display SoC and even ...

I found a curve for NCM712 chemistry which apparently the MEB cells are. Bildschirmfoto vom 2023-11-27 22-36-39.png It is not open circuit though... Loaded with 0.2C Surprised to see these can go to 4.4V. Explains why it is allowed to reach 4.25V in the charge session (and then still has a top buffer)

Re: How to not kill a tesla drive unit
Thanks for posting, was new to me. Fortunately and surprisingly more current means quicker turn-off or less dead time requirement. So what is being tuned at no-load is already worst case. Only temperature is indeed not taken into account, so a safety margin should be added (in their example 20% for ...

Oh wow, I almost forgot about that affair. I wonder had this forum gained as much attention without their f*ckup. Anyway, backups are frequently made of the database and file system of this server. So far we're just using 43 GB. Fits on a $5 USB stick if needed. Very high maintenance cost! Thanks ev...

Re: How to not kill a tesla drive unit
I'd defer to your expertise on whether that would matter, but I don't believe anyone has tried tuning that parameter. All of the example sets I have saved show it at 63. What would be the benefit/danger to changing that? Setting it too low means high current flows across the phase legs and potentia...

Very nice. They look different to whats on my board with 3 windings? I finally got around to running pyPLC as EVSE and have it communicate with Clara. No hardware behind it, so I'm in this endless loop: pyPLC: [627025ms] [EVSE] { "msgName": "CurrentDemandReq", "info": &...

One thing I didn't find in uhis readme was the PIB config for EVSE so dumping it here (found here ) setpib evse.pib 74 hfid "EVSE" setpib evse.pib F4 byte 2 setpib evse.pib 1653 byte 2 Everything else is identical to PEV config. Maybe worthwhile adding to readme? https://github.com/uhi22/p...

Yes the Nissan BMS puts current on the CAN bus too. Not sure of Zombieverter supports decoding it yet but the code is available: https://github.com/jsphuebner/stm32-car ... eafbms.cpp

Re: Is the open inventer suport for step/dir interface???
Ok, I see.
That is half supported then with encmode=Single. The dir input could be the B-channel input but then additional code must be written to handle it. Depends on the application whether it's needed

That's a shame. Do you know the the nature of these failures, just randomly fried IGBTs? He was driving 100 kph on cruise control and then lost drive. Afterwards the bad old "turn on - see OVERCURRENT message". He did measure the IGBTs and apart from not showing any bubbles or magic debri...

A high voltage inverter will work with lower voltage but retains its "low" current capability. So if around 400A is sufficient you can roll with a Prius inverter.

In which spot do you mean?
Apart from that it is all aluminium 3mm, so working with it shouldn't be hard.
I'll add reinforcement bars on the top where it's bolted to the center beam

Re: How to not kill a tesla drive unit
I want to ask at this spot, how many people have killed their drive unit after it had been working fine for a while? Most of all mid-drive would be interesting.
One German customer has lost drive after it worked fine for 40.000 km and apparently he's not the only one.

Still wondering how to best route the HV out of the enclosure, out the side or out the front.

Sounds actually quite simple to begin with. Numberplate and sparkling condensation suggests Norrland?
I'd always roll with OEM BMSes when feasible. Maybe this helps getting an idea of what's involved when re-arranging

Re: Replacing the VW BMU aka implementing high level BMS functions
While we wait for that next up is SoC estimation. So whenever the pack has been unloaded (say less than 1A current) I want to derive the state of charge from the idle voltage of the lowest cell. So I need a voltage->SoC curve for those cells. Anyone know where to find it? Right now I use the Nyland d...
