Or could be that rev3 needs some fast heartbeat telegram similar to outlander at 30ms interval?

Try to shorten that time between telegrams maybe it will help...
Tesla gen2 and gen3 chargers are essentially the same control wise just that gen3 has more power. So Arber just to confirm your Tesla gen2 charger is not doing this? I wasn't sure if this is normal or not just wanted to ask. Otherwise if that behaviour is not normal your guess about CAN intervals makes sense. My CAN lines has 60 Ohm resistance so should be all good there. Besides I only noticed this when I started using EVSE, before I was just applying AC manually and the charger didn't seem to do this.
Ok then I suggest to make a graph with the web GUI of the amp limit setting (of cp line) maybe it jumbos around a bit..

Hi, this repo has SAM3X version of control board for Tesla gen3 charger but there is no arduino software for it. While gen2 arduino code works with gen3 charger it is limited to 16A per phase. I tried increasing what I thought were the limits in the code but it had no effect or stopped working altogether. Would you by any chance have a gen3 arduino code somewhere or would hint what need changing to be able to use full power from gen3 charger? Thanks 😊

Have my new board installed and communicating through WiFi. Settings attached and photo of LEDs attached.

All modules are powering up, based on LEDs on each module.

Board LEDs are as shown, with upper LED (of two stacked amber LEDs) flashing (might appear solid in photo - it's not).

I can read battery voltage at DC connections on charger, but it is not outputting DC voltage (in other words, contactors are open but battery is not being charged).

Any suggestions?

Please post the output of http://192.168.4.1/cmd?cmd=json
Very likely the CAN termination solder jumper below the wifi module isn't closed

Solder looks good. I heated it up and added solder to both sides again, just in case.

Thanks for your help here!

Hi, did you manage to test the Tesla charger? Is the current ramping up and down all the time too? 😊

True, you asked me... It is switching around some, but not too much.

So state=EVSEActivate which means it should be charging but at the same time there is absolutely no comms from the chargers. The mapping bug didn't exist in v1.07.R so it must be something with the physical bus. Maybe bus shorted when soldering in the connector?

Thanks Johu!

I had the soldering done by a local PCB manufacturer. He's pretty darn talented. The only solder I did myself was the termination jumper.

I can inspect the board under magnification, any other suggestions to search out the issue?

greetings, to see who can guide me since I am starting a project with my bmw x5. to use a Tesla gen2 charger I bought the card but when comparing it with others I see that it is missing a piece that goes in point 1C4 and I would like to know if it is necessary for me to have this and if it is necessary what should I do because I don't know what it is. Thank you

Assuming you're using a Gen2 charger, and a v5 board, you can actually view the schematic for yourself here :

Looks like this is the FTDI chip (USB to serial). This is, I believe, used to configure the charger settings. I have one, but have not set it up yet.

I see the v5 board also has a separate serial header (conn9). So, I guess you could make do without IC4 if you had as separate FTDI board/adapter and connected it to conn9. FTDI boards are cheap and easy to get.

All settings are configured via wifi. Hence the missing chip!

Ok i have an issue.
Not with the charger... it runs just fine.
Not with the board... it also does its job.
Maybe the formware? Or my settings?

I replaced 3x of my 3kW eltek chargers which were charging ar 9kW but would not abide by EVSE Cp signal.
I put in Tesla gen2 charger and used open source firmware with serial setup.
I did setup in evse mode with 20A phase limit.

Charger only goes up to 8.5kW! Why would that be? And i tested at various voltages as to eliminate constant power tapering. Also i tested on various L2 EVSE in Slovenia. See the photos.
Did anyone come across similar behaviour?

Hi, are you using the arduino code with SAM3X version of the board? In that case you can plug in USB cable and open serial terminal in arduino. It reports very clearly what each charger is doing and what amperage it is charging at. Can you take a look if each charger is charging at 16A AC? It also shows there what cable limit it is receiving from EVSE. Or can you take a screenshot?

I am using Tomdbs arduino code compiled evidently for stm32 chip on my v5b3 board. Did you notice similar behaviour with your version?

Didn't know this version of firmware existed where did you find it? I'm using Tom's firmware on SAM3X board. So can you access serial debug info at all? Mine works and AC current ramps up to 16A max but then it drops to ~2A and ramps up again, does this every 10 seconds or so..

In the binary folder of Damiens repo. He seems to have it ported to STM32
https://github.com/damienmaguire/Tesla- ... are/Binary

That is exactly what i am seeing. Goes up to 8.5kW and dances about 500W. Could that mean each of the modules sees something faulty in its CAN command and starts to reduce but is then overcome by correct telegram? Or is it that Cp sensing is not very precise. I count some 2m of unshielded wire from socket to charger.

Yeah... about debug... the way i installed the charger i have to gat it down and take the lid off. My plan is to put a small cable through the lid and use it to connect to FTDI to have serial connection. Then i will be able to see debug...any day now.

Post a canbus log of it and I will take a look at it. From turning charger on couple of those cycles and turning off.

I will setup a twisted pair as well then...

Hello, thank you very much for responding to my concern, the card is a V5aB3, would it be mandatory to put the chip in it for it to work and if so, how do I program it?

Sorry, I'm causing issues here by trying to chip in to answer questions, but only getting it about half right ;)

You can use the board, as-is, without having to add anything. The board has a WiFi interface and can be configured/managed completely from there (of course!).
