Seeking help with OEM logic board on P85D LDU

Post by Isle »

Hi there, I'm hoping someone on this forum might have an idea on how to do this, or if I'm even barking up the right tree. The only info I've found so far is either conflicting, or behind a very expensive paywall.

I've got a 2014 Model S P85D. One morning the car popped up a warning telling me the rear motor was disabled. I disassembled the LDU, there was no water damage, tested everything, found one phase of the inverter had bad diodes (tested 0 ohms both directions). Replaced the inverter phase, did the coolant delete, installed new bearings, tested everything, reassembled the car and it still gives the following error codes in service mode plus:

DI_f072_gateDriveFaultCounter (Rear motor disabled - OK to drive/Vehicle speed and power may be limited)
DI_w072_gateDriveFaultCounter (/) customer, service Drive Inverter Warning: Phase gate drive error counter exceeded
DI_w017_hwPedalMonitor service Drive Inverter Warning: Pedal Monitor shutdown
PM_f033_selfTest (/) customer, service-fix Pedal Monitor Fault: Self Start-up Test Failed
PM_w033_selfTest service-fix Pedal Monitor Warning: Self Start-up Test Failed

There are no other relevant codes, and nothing to suggest any actual problem exists with the LDU. The car drives fine (FWD only).

From what I can tell based on the ev clinic website, this is a latched error that cannot be cleared without reflashing the board. If that's the case, does anyone know how to reflash these, or could direct me to a writeup for same? I've got access to another board that has the non-sport firmware on it, and I have a parts car with an unknown condition sport LDU that I can potentially use the board from as well - but I want to be sure it's the problem and/or dump the firmware before proceeding down that route, since I think at this point there's nothing actually wrong with my LDU except that error flag being stuck. I still have a few weeks of the toolbox subscription remaining so I'd like to handle this somewhat quickly but not necessarily today or tomorrow.

So... does anyone know how to reflash these? Or think that maybe I'm actually looking at the wrong thing, and there's still a problem within my LDU?
