Gen3 PDM on Gen2 inverter with ZombieVerter.

Post by GregFordyce »

I'm looking at options to upgrade the 3.6kW OBC in my full Gen2 stack with ZombieVerter. I know that a 6.6kW Gen2 PDM is a straight swap but they are difficult to find. Would it be possible to use a Gen3 or eNV200 PDM as most of those have a 6.6kW OBC?

Thanks in advance, Greg

It would not be a straight swap into a gen2 Leaf as from what I heard chademo does not work but with Zombie it does not matter too much as you have the freedom to modify the wiring. So yes I think you could use it no problem but I think you would have to get it together with type2 socket to make it easier. Let me know if you're interested as I have them for sale. Also complete gen3 Leaf stacks for that matter. I know gen2 stuff is cheaper but then you have less power and more weight and then 6.6 kw PDMs are rare and expensive because Leaf drivers want them.

Thanks m.art.y, I did think that as long as they bolt together the ZV would be okay with any PDM that it supports. Good point about the type 2 connector. Do you know if the round harness connector (F18) is the same on Gen2, Gen3 and eNV200? I'll keep you in mind if I do decide to change the PDM. Chademo should be fine as the ZV supports that directly, as I understand it.
