Project status tags.

Post by Bigpie »

In an effort to give an overview of the current status of a project, please add a tag to the subject/first post title.
[WIP] - Work in progress
[FIRST DRIVE] - Had first drive, may not yet be road legal.
[DRIVING] - Road legal and in regular use
[ABANDONED] - Will not be completed, project abandoned.

Might I suggest making this a sticky and put a time limit of 3 months before all non renamed projects will become [abandoned]...you could possible set any project that doesn't get a post within a year to become labeled [abandoned]?

Could also used the "SOLVED" plugin whereas that would only allow one tag - e.g. "COMPLETED"

EDIT: seems you've already done it. Will mark my two projects now :)

Ok dumb question, especially given how long I've been around here: How do I change the subject/title?

Click the edit button on the first post, there's a subject box. Change that to have the tag in. Hit save

So far the "FINISHED" flag couldn't be reset because of a permission setting that I did not understand. So it was set on some projects that weren't finished. Fixed this, you can remove the flag by hitting the checkmark on the top right of any post (again)

I'm not sure why, but I can't edit the title in my first post to change the status to [Driving]

a while ago Johannes closed the window on indefinite edits to our posts, so I wonder if that time period also effects title updates, I honestly loved being able to go back and make changes to my old posts so that if I had one called RESOURCES for example I could group all the links in there in one post and not pepper them all over a lengthy thread, wish the indefinite ability to make changes to your own posts returned

Yes this was a reaction to a hand full of former members deleting all of their content before leaving. The threads then became meaningless.

Now it could be that the downsides of this change outweigh the upsides. Suggestions?

Is there a way to provisionally edit a subject on a closed post that would then get moderator approval?
