Re: [ WIP ]Bmw e39 + GS450h
Sorry Tom, don't have a Charge Port Controller unit. I was trying to get the Zombie to go into charge mode and I was looking to see what should I select on
General Setup
3. Interface parameters
I have it set to CPC
Which is not working so it looks like ..I am doing it wrong..
I was trying to copy what Jamie had implemented in the video below. At 6 minutes
DIY BMW E91 EV Episode 6
If anyone has got this working I would appreciate some advice.
Thanks

Re: [ WIP ]Bmw e39 + GS450h
There's a bug in the outlander charger implementation, I had to set interface to chademo for PP detect to work and go in to charge mode.

Re: [ WIP ]Bmw e39 + GS450h
This is an update on my project.
In Feb this year I had the first drive out of the workshop and up and down a small country road.
All was good only had to push it home once. 12v battery went low and car stopped.
In May i got a peugeot 208 50kW battery and it has taken me a few months to get it fitted into the car. 10 modules in the boot and six in the front with room for another two modules at a later stage.
The plan is to but a Kilovac contactor in the boot with a safety disconnect and fuse.
I had a bmw Sbox with welded contactors which is for scrap. So I have being playing with the possibility using this with Kilovac contactors.
I have bolted it together and mounted in a enclosure to see if it would fit together neatly. See photo.
The big questions I have for the forum members who understand the code is.....
1. Can I use the sbox shunt and use the Zombie outputs to drive the three contactors. ( negative and positive Kilovac and sbox precharge contactors)
If so what should I select in shunt drop menu.
2. Should I use the Zombie to drive all three contactors and select sbox in drop down menu.
3. I might have a problem with my pre charge LS output on my zombie.
Is there a way to test this or should I just get a new
NCV8402 mosfet fitted to my zombie.
I haven't put any thought into which BMS I should use.

Re: [ WIP ]Bmw e39 + GS450h
Did you already have an ISA previously? If so, and you're changing at least the two main contactors, neatest solution sounds like moveing away from the S-Box/hybrid idea. I toyed with the same thing and if the S-Box isolation monitoring was fully working, it would be a benefit. But to me it sounds like the Kilovacs and ISA and ZV standard setup would be most straightforward.

Re: [ WIP ]Bmw e39 + GS450h
Spent some time thinking about my setup and i have decided to scrap the sbox idea and go with the ev standard zombie Kilovac and Isa shunt setup. So i need to source a isa shunt
Re: [ WIP ]Bmw e39 + GS450h
I am planning doing same for my outlander project. Scrapping s-box and going with Kilovac EV200HAANA and IVT-S-1K-U3-I-CAN2-12/24 shunt. Just sourcing all the bits to build a HVJB up now.

Re: [ WIP ]Bmw e39 + GS450h
Progress is slow.
I have built the HV Junction box but I am still having issues with the pre charge circuit on my Zombie,
Does anyone know if its possible to command this LS output to activate a test to see if the precharge circuit is functioning
The shunt has been wired up since this photo was taken

Re: [ WIP ]Bmw e39 + GS450h
Spent today working on my HV Junction box with the ISA shunt.
The three contactors are working as required and ucd and ucd2 are reading 246volts from ten batteries , will add the remaining six batteries from the front battery box in the next week or so.
I seem to have an issue with the INVvdc value. It's at 50% of the udc most of the time.
When I power up the Zombie it's at 100% the same value as udc ,,,,, but when I spin the motor the value drops back down to 50%.
When i changed the inverter can from can1 to can2 the correct valve showed up on INVdcu,,,, but again when I spin the motor it drops back down to 50%.
The actual voltage measured with a multimeter never changes 100% 246v.
I have purchased a second inverter but the issue is the same with both inverters.
All advice/ Suggestions are very welcome.
Below I are my parameters and spot values.
Thanks
Kevin

Re: [ WIP ]Bmw e39 + GS450h
InvUDC values are not to be trusted. I don't think it matters. Zombie uses ISA shunt as the source of truth. My inverter spits out garbage for InvUDC

The invudc in the current release uses the wrong bytes.

Re: [ WIP ]Bmw e39 + GS450h
Thanks Robertwa for your response. It's good to hear that other zombie/Gs450h users are having similar experiences.. Will try improved larger diameter standoffs (18mm) on the inverter but I will be surprised if it makes any difference
