Very glad to have found this group! I have been coveting a DIY EV conversion for almost 20 years, never had the time or resources to make an honest effort. Thanks to an infamous video hosting site, I found two of the more well-known members here, who inspired me that NOW IS THE TIME!

Huge shout out to you both and a handful of others here who are moving this hobby forward and sharing knowledge. Yes, I spent over a week reading threads and am aware of the time pressure and silly Tesla types who want everything handed to them; not I!

My last project was a DIY weather station, while I was perfectly successful with the design, hardware and electronics, the software was not perfectly successful and there lies my knowledge gap... programming. Everything works on it, for ONE clock cycle and I have never been able to figure out why despite trolling github for over a year and scabbing in code that worked for others :(

The great news is that part#1 for the VW Squareback EV has arrived! I am now the proud owner of a 2010 Highlander Rear Drive Unit (electric engine as the breakers call it). Being from the "Rust Belt" in the USA, it is not much to look at, but everything turns smoothly and I even got the connections!

The grand plan is to remove all the ICE parts, place the "EV engine" and G2 Prius Inverter where the transmission WAS and direct-drive the wheels. Ample room and weight capacity left for like 4 Prius hybrid packs.

Once the inverter and HV wiring arrives over the next week, it will be time to order the board, presuming everything is undamaged.

I just hope economics do not delay development.
