Leaf AC charger socket polarity

Post by marvgb »

Hi everyone, hooking up a Leaf Gen3 PDM at the moment (running stack on the bench before picking a project car), but stuck on the Live/Neutral polarity of the AC charger input.

I don't have the original socket and cable, so trying to work it out..

I can see the cable has 2 orange wires for the AC, plus a PE cable.

At the PDM end, one AC line has black tape. Does anyone know if this is Live or Neutral?

Failing that, does anyone have a socket loom around (J1772 or Type 2), and can do a continuity check from one end to the other to see which is which?

Would really appreciate any help.

Thank you!

Just wanted to feed back that the black marked cable is the Live.

That's cool but from my study of the topology doesn't matter. Both cables run through a number of common mode chokes and finally a rectifier.

Missed your post earlier, otherwise could have spared you the research ;)
