Gen4 Nissan Leaf stack CAN log for analysis
Hi,
I've tried running gen4 Nissan Leaf stack with a Zombie and it did not appear to run. PDM is now made by Toyota and has no labelling with charging power etc. It has identical round connectors and wires all seem to be the same. Dcdc converter did not start, there is also no bus voltage info in the CAN or it is encoded differently. I attach a CAN communication log between the Zombie and the Leaf stack for analysis. Do the CAN messages appear to be different?

The Nissan leaf gen stuff is confusing. As far as cars I believe the current vehicles are Gen 2. For inverters we're on Gen 3 as far as I'm aware. Where is Gen 4 coming from?

It might be wrong but the logic is simple: Leaf EM61 is gen1, Leaf EM57 80 kw is gen2, Leaf 110 &160 kw is gen3, and Leaf 2023 with Toyota PDM is gen4 as changes have been made and it does not work with Zombie out of the box.

Re: Gen4 Nissan Leaf stack CAN log for analysis
That seems reasonable. Though if it's only a communications difference and the rest of the hardware is the same as a gen 3 (2018-?) it might make sense to call it 3.1 or maybe 3.5? If gen 4 hasn't been established by the community yet...
Edit, I just found the other post. These seem like gen 4 will be appropriate.

Re: Gen4 Nissan Leaf stack CAN log for analysis
Question: I know the Zombieverter read-me says the Gen3 PDM is not supported. I remember reading somewhere that was because of issues with CHAdeMO. Can the Zombieverter run the Gen3 PDM (2018-2022) for just AC charging and DC-DC?

Where does it say Gen3 PDM not supported? It should work, it had been confirmed by another forum user as it needed propper CAN waking and sleeping.P.S.Mangelsdorf wrote: ↑Thu Mar 20, 2025 6:47 pm Question: I know the Zombieverter read-me says the Gen3 PDM is not supported. Thanks Tom - it's still listed as Gen2 only on Damien's github.
Great to know it works - I'm working with a friend on a build plan for one of his cars and a full gen3 stack will probably be involved.

Re: Gen4 Nissan Leaf stack CAN log for analysis
Hi, Leaf stacks from 2013 to 2023 all work with zombieverter. Stacks from 2017 to 2023 need to wire chademo differently as far as I know. AC charging work on all of them (not the 2023 onwards as CAN messages have been changed by Nissan).P.S.Mangelsdorf wrote: ↑Thu Mar 20, 2025 6:47 pm Question: I know the Zombieverter read-me says the Gen3 PDM is not supported.
