Hi,
I am working on an EV conversion using a GS450h and Zombieverter.
I know it's very good and well used but at the back of my mind I have the worry, what if it goes Wide Open Throttle for some mystery reason?
I know dropping the contactors isn't a good idea but what about adding a pyro fuse as an absolute, one-shot, emergency stop to kill the power?
Am I being neurotic? What does the collective think?

What would be the difference between opening the contractors and blowing the fuse? Fear that the contactors wouldn't be able to break the connection? Shouldn't be a problem if they are sized correctly.
If you're worried about blowing the capacitor in the inverter, I'm not sure blowing a fuse makes a difference vs opening contactors. Either way it's an open circuit, right?

I was thinking the contactor may weld shut but from what you have said and some other conversations I have had, a pyro seems like over-kill.

If you turn the ignition off, the inverter stops inverting. Surely thats your emergency stop?
Even if the HV contactors welded at the same time, if the inverter and control boards dont have logic power, theres no more drive.
