Hi Gregski,

For my project I was figuring out which batteries would be suitable. Initially I didn't give the BMW batteries much attention since they seemed to be cooled by direct refrigerant cooling. Later on I found out (this post and your YouTube video's -> very helpful, thanks!!) that you use/going to use them without cooling.

What are your idea's on thermal management at this point? Do you limit the current in and out of the batteries to avoid overheating? As an alternative to refrigerant cooling I was thinking about using heat pipes to cool the batteries, but that is only a rough idea.

I heard good things about this Mercedes pump and all it takes is two wires, + and - and it just runs.

Looks like a good option; I'll keep an eye out for them. If I had to guess, it's probably a variant of the same pump they sell to VAG/Porsche.

Thank you for the kind words, yeah these batteries are amazeballs and I thank our friend Artur and his Jaguar XJR for turning me on to them! Well I highly doubt Netherlands gets hotter than Northern California where I drive my truck, and I use nothing but air to cool mine, going on second year / summer of driving (just over 1,600 miles on the clock so far). I do not have mine in a box though cause my truck is a fairweather vehicle so maybe that helps keep 'em cool(er). Conversely Artur lives on the opposite end of the country and has put the Jag and these BMW batteries through the test of their winters, also no heat or coolant running through them. Hope this helps.

Top Tip: Hold out for the second gen (SP41) battery packs which BMW introduced in July of 2019 as they are of larger capacity.

alright, everything is done, connected, etc. Now What? Well let's go through the start up sequence sorta speak, for safety purposes the high voltage pack is still disconnected (just one of the leads to the Safety Box, negative in my case I think), so first we just see what the laptop can see with the VCU just getting permanent power

Is the FaryLink WiFi network being advertised?

Can we bring up the Huebner web page?

She's a'rollin', and not just downhill. That counts. And she's like, fused up, VCU'd up, safetyboxed, has seats in her, a foward/reverse switch that doesn't involve undoing marettes. Soon she'll be registered, insured, and driving down the highway on top of a rollback.

she's already registered and insured, all we need to do is persuade her to charge, the Zombie thinks we're charging but there's no amps going into the pack, I suspect the Control Pilot signal
