Power drops off at high acceleration and then got stuck on the side of the road

Driving and hit the accelerator to the floor (little fun)... anyway. The car picked up and then almost instantly lost power. I let off the accelerator and then eased back into it. The car drove normal for a while. After about a half hour into the drive the car started to loose complete power. I pulled over waited a few minutes and was able to drive on for a few minutes and the car started to act up again. I'll call it chugging limited power cashing me to have to pull over and start again a few minutes later. Could this be an over heating issue? Is the motor potentially getting to hot?

Sounds much like it. Maybe air or flow rate too low?
