Zombie not going into Run mode SOLVED
Hey All
I am testing Zombieverter VCU and I am having problems with VCU not switching into the Run mode. I currently have only Ignition on connected on Pin 15 Forward and reverse on Pins 53 and 54 and start on pin 52. I can see that all abovementioned buttons are registered as dinstart and dinforward etc. I have tried changing udcmin to a diffrent values but this did not make any difference. It seems as one of the conditions for it to go into a run mode is not met. Has anyone experienced this issue and what else could I check in my settings? I attached my parameters file.

Re: Zombie not going into Run mode
The inverter? You mean zombie not going into run mode right?
UDCsw is set to 0 which is correct.
It is possible the Vehicle is not working right when set to classic, I will look into this. Please try BMW E31 or E46.
Are you getting any errors related to throttle?

Re: Zombie not going into Run mode
Thank you for a quick response Tom I only have Zombieverter with power hooked up and buttons I mentioned. Nothing else is connected. I also tried connecting Prius Throttle and this is working correctly as well. I can see throttle response accordingly to me operating the pedal.
I did try BMW E31 just now with the same result. I did see the classic option was working in Gregski video where he has only start button and ignition connected and VCU was going into run mode. I should also mention that if I select Reverse or Forward with the switch and use auto refresh the dir value is switching constantly between Neutral and Forward or Reverse whatever is selected with the switch.

Why is your udclim zero?
Any stored errors or reported errors in the spot values?

Yes correct sorry I didn't express myself correctly I meant VCU
UDCsw is set to 0 which is correct.

Re: Zombie not going into Run mode
No stored or reported errors. For Udclim I first used default values and then tried zero as an experiment. I just tried default values the same result. What are the conditions for VCU to go into Run mode?

Re: Zombie not going into Run mode
Permanent 12V
T15/Igniton 12V/active
Start signal 12V/actve
No throttle Errors, so resting Pot is over potmin. Also Pot is not pressed
No UDC errors, so udclim not triggered and udcsw has been passed or reached
Ofcourse you can also fail precharge, but you are not measuring udc. You must be missing an error repoting.
Do not keep refreshing the params. Provide 12V to VCU permanent then 12V to ignition - nothing else. The briefly provide 12V to start.
Then refresh you spot values. What do you see for first few?

Re: Zombie not going into Run mode
I have just tried this - no change on refresh. I pressed show errors and it displayed a message no errors. Opmode still remains off. I have to add that this board was made by JLC PCB and I added a CAN chip and few transistors myself. But all buttons reading correctly if I look at dinStart and T15 ignition come up as On permanent for ignition and momentary switch when I keep start pressed. I wonder if some issue on the board causing this?

Re: Zombie not going into Run mode
So if you switch the pin states while plotting them do you see them hang?
It sounds like you might have broken something or JLCPCB manufacturing errors are causing all sorts of hick ups.

Re: Zombie not going into Run mode
No not at all I can plot or use gauges to show change of state for all switches and throttle no problem at all
Re: Zombie not going into Run mode
If I remember correctly PotPressed . I have now left the house, going on a business trip will check on my return. Will also check all signals going to the processor with DVM. Thanks so much for your help

Re: Zombie not going into Run mode
If status is PotPressed then the throttle pedal calibration is not correct. potmin needs to be higher than pot by 10 - 20. If using dual pot then pot2min needs to be adjusted as well although this is not checked for going into run mode.
Re: Zombie not going into Run mode
Thanks for the suggestion but I feel if I haven't sorted run mode issue the throttle calibration issue is secondary. Even with the throttle pedal disconnected it's not going into the run mode still

Re: Zombie not going into Run mode
Status has to be "none" to go into run mode. Ideally the throttle has to be connected and calibrated correctly, but may work if disconnected and potmin set to 0.
Re: Zombie not going into Run mode
Thank you very much, I would like to check this. As I had to recall this from memory I may have been wrong. It makes sense as it should not go to run with the throttle pressed.
As I went on a business trip I can't check it right now. But it might be the reason as I have throttle pedal connected when I did all tests. I will check it as soon as I am back.
Re: Zombie not going into Run mode
I have found a screen recording when I did testing And can confirm that status was set as below
and throttle reading when not pressed as below
Could this be the reason for not going into the run mode?

Re: Zombie not going into Run mode
Yes, as already explained in at least three posts above. You are not meeting two of the three conditions that must be met to go into run mode, as indicated by "status". Set udcsw to 0 and potmin to 500 ( i.e. >491 ) and it should work.

I did not see this thread when I made my video, but maybe it will help some of you out

Re: Zombie not going into Run mode
Sorry royhen99 you were absolutely right the issue was because I had potmin set to 300. And of course as I had throttle connected it was reading around 500. I set potmin to 600 and it went straight into the Run mode. I had udcsw set to 0 previously so this was not a problem.
