Fried olimex

Post by 86elcamino »

So, I finally got the wheels to turn last week on my Zombie/GS450h(not smooth, not sure why). Went out this morning to work on it some more, and no Wifi. Open the VCU, and find no lights on wifi, pull it off and there is a burnt spot on back of wifi. It seems from the comments on these forums that these are problematic. Why would this burn? Can anyone suggest a good replacement that does not need a much if any of programming? Do we have to use wifi? Thanks

I switched to the Wemos WiFi adapter see viewtopic.php?p=47813#p47813

I haven’t had any problems with it but it’s only run on the bench so far.

You’ll need to order up some adapter boards but they are very cheap. Files are in this post from Damien viewtopic.php?p=46694#p46694.

I just got the Wemos installed. It comes up with an IP 192.168.4.2, but it refuses to connect. Any ideas? Thanks

Try going through the full set up again following ‘Step 3 (full)’ from the wiki at:
https://openinverter.org/wiki/Olimex_MOD-WIFI-ESP8266

This worked for me.
