I guess the real thing I'm wanting to know is can I get away with an L210 transmission over the L110. It's cheaper, more reliable, smaller, lighter and simpler, the only problem is it's slower.
By now you probably have turned every single rock on the gravel road to EV conversions. Twice. :?
At some point you just have to pull the trigger.

Before I put the l210 into my car I wanted to compare the mg1 and mg2 rpm as there are lots of people throwing conflicting gear ratios around so is there any way I can do this on the zombieverter there is only one rpm in spot values and I assume that is mg2 I have enough understanding to know it's possible as I can see where the speeds are being read but don't have the required skills to alter the zombieverter code to do it so if anyone else is interested in this information and does have the required skills your help would be appreciated :)

900 rpm at 60v :)

I could be wrong, but my understanding is: The field weakening ability of the inverter diminishes to almost nothing as the battery voltage goes that low. The current needed for field weakening is the same regardless of the battery voltage and motor speed, and a certain amount of voltage is needed for creating a certain amount of current in the motor.

(It's useful to collect these numbers though, especially if someone makes a similar type of measurement on another unit for comparison.)

It was just information I'm making no assumptions based upon it :D

does anyone have a recommendation for transmission fluid to put into this lexus 300h drivetrain other than the silly expensive toyota one ?
fully synthetic Dextron VI seems to be an alternative and less than half the price

How expensive is silly expensive? Given you're hopefully not going to be draining it for 50000miles or so (assuming it's similar to other gearboxes) does it justify the cost?

around £20 per liter or I can get 5l of dextron VI for £32 it's not gonna break the bank but I'm tight

it needs 3.8l plus the cooler and pipework so 5l £100 toyota or £32 Dextron VI no brainer as long as it's ok

I'm mostly playing devil's advocate, it's likely I'll be asking a similar question but replace expensive lexus fluid with dextron and dextron with water :D

Just put ATF ws into you favourite online shop .. and Toyota hybrid ones sem to appear e.g.

Added pic for future ref

Westway lubricants are quite good for specialist oils (British company.... But it's a toyota was comparable oil but not listed specifically for hybrids...

TBH given the costs of the units and that we are using them out of scope i would consider best guess would probably be fine as long as its massive different it not going to make a huge difference, plus your not using it in a sealed for life :)
rember if you go to a garage to get your car serviced there is typicality 2-3 giant oil cans that's it, yet depending on where you look they can specify quite exotic oils. ps looks like its slight cheaper from westway website than on ebay :)

Just had a quick browse in German Lexus forums, they all recommend changing the filter(?) as well.
Also ATF WS if not Toyota's.

Suggesting I'm so cheap I consider the decision between dextron and water

the car it came from only had 33k miles on it so I won't bother with the filter I'm only doing the oil because I don't want to mix oils also I get to check for any metal in the oil when I drain it :)

What I did for my GS450H gearbox was I went to a parts store and asked for ATF for a Prius. They sold me some kind of aftermarket "WS compatible" fluid of their own brand. I mixed it in with whatever was in the gearbox. I think it's gonna be fine for a long time. I would do the same for the 300H.

it's a bit slow going because of the weather and having to work outside but the 300h transmission is back in the car and I have all new coolant hoses for both the water and transmission fluid and 5lts of dextron 6 fully synthetic so I can drain and refill the transmission I'm not expecting to find anything in the oil when I drain it but I'd rather know for sure all I'm waiting for now is a couple of an-10 to an-6 reducers for the oil cooler and I can get on, well weather permitting.

Got some more done today welded on some brackets to fit the oil cooler, run and connected the hoses to the transmission I can't finish connecting these to the cooler as I'm waiting for some an-6 to an-10 reducers
IMG_2780.JPG
I've also decided on final locations for the inverter and outlander charger
but it's very slow going I spent 2 hrs just moving stuff around to make this decision
plumbing wise it's not ideal but I can make it work.

I haven't really gained much room over the leaf drivetrain, maybe a little either side but at least I've gotten rid if my knackered gearbox
as for the battery I'll be refitting my pack with 6 bmw 2kwh 8s modules in the front and the four in the back I've got room in the back for the other 2 but can't find any for sale without buying a full pack of 12 :)
