finished or functional ev ?

Post by andybpowell »

I was searching through the forum looking at peoples projects for some information about BMW 8s 70ah modules and got to wondering how many people on here actually have functional/finished cars is there a list somewhere?

Yea damien is somewhat prolific and you forgot Tom's z3 and mine for that matter mine has been on the road under electric power for a year and although it's all tested and registered as electric it's still a work in progress I've just finished installing the 20Kw battery pack so a faster charger is probably next

I did forget yours, Toms hasn't been functional for quite a while, hopefully this will be changing soon.

My pug 406c works every day now and i am about to put id3 12s modules in it for improved cooling.
Now it has stripped cells from Jag Ipace in 2p96s configuration. No significant cooling with dc fast charge ----> death for cells.

This sounded like a silly question at first but actually it's a good question. It's impossible to figure out the daily driven cars from the projects threads.

Should we add a tag to the daily driven or functional project thread titles so that one can list them with one advanced search? Like "[daily driven]", "[functional]" or whatever. As long as we pick one that is easily searchable and stick to it.

That's not a bad idea. There's got to be quite a few project threads that never got completed/driven.

I’ve been daily driving mine for just over three years and completed nearly 25,000 electrical miles. I consider it finished from a project perspective, but there will always something to do to it. I’d really love a bigger battery and CCS at some stage.

Maybe [driving]? If we agree it means road legal and in use?

This was what I was thinking when I was searching through the projects for some information, admittedly projects like this hardly ever stop getting tinkered with but I was curious as to how many were finished to some driveable level whether thats up and down a private road or fully legal registered daily driver

With 25000 on it I think we can consider it functional

I will probably change battery in Mazda MX3 i have from 2012 and it has 150000km electric and some 250000km ice logged. When i start i will pin it here as a new project since i finally decided to put outlander motor in it and lose the transmission...
