Question: Can I connect 2 resolvers to Gen 3 Prius Inverter

Post by Ember »

Hello everyone,
I am doing a conversion with a Gen 3 Prius Inverter and gearbox, and will be using both MG1 and MG2. I have already welded the PSD, and have the dual motor (V1d) board from EVBMW. Looking at the pinout for the idc connector for the bord, I can only see connections for one resolver. My question is: can I use one resolver for both? or parallel the resolvers or connect them both to the inverter in some way? I have not been able to find any info on this, but I do know that cars have successfully been built with the same drivetrain as mine (https://www.google.com/url?q=https://op ... RLN1eF0LtT).

The wiki for the p410 transaxle (https://openinverter.org/wiki/Toyota_P410_CVT) lists
"MG2 to Drive Gear ratio 2.636:1"
and "Locked input shaft (stationary carrier) gives -2.6:1 ratio from MG1 to Drive Gear"
so I don't think I could use one resolver for both, right?

Thanks for the help!

No guarantee that I'm looking at the right schematic (https://github.com/damienmaguire/Prius- ... ematic.pdf but based on this one the the two resolvers share the same exciter ground return connection and the SINA/COSA connections:

And these all come out on the main connector:

So you should be fine connecting up both resolvers (and you're correct, if they're spinning at different speeds you can't share a single resolver)

Ah Shoot, dumb mistake! I was looking at the pinout description on the gen3 board wiki, forgot about the separate schematic for the dual motor boards. Thank you!
