Re: 1950 Mercury Lead sled
At the moment I only do sheet metal work. No bits and bytes . That's not so interesting here. I cut up the body and sandblasted and primed the individual pieces. Now I put everything back together. Of course with the changes on the floor for the electrical components and to go much lower.

Pure craftsmanship!
Could you please post some pictures of your high voltage junction box?
Also, which car your heat exchanger is from?
Thanks in advance.

I believe this is a heat exchange from a golf GTE / A3 Etron. if you order one make sure you have the high pressure side pipe as it has a restrictor installed inside as the heat exchange does not have a TXV on it.

that's right. I installed the entire system from the Golf GTE Hybrid. It consists of chiller, A/C compressor, evaporator, condenser, pressure sensor and 2 solenoid valves. The pipes are custom made, of course with the restrictor!golfdubcrazy wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 10:29 am I believe this is a heat exchange from a golf GTE / A3 Etron. if you order one make sure you have the high pressure side pipe as it has a restrictor installed inside as the heat exchange does not have a TXV on it.
I don't use an extra HV junction box. The main contactors, main fuse, pre-charge relay and resistor, current sensor and BMS are housed in the battery box. DC charging contactors and the required voltage measurement for the LIM are in the AC charger. Further fuses for cabin heater, battery heater, A/C compressor and DC-DC converter are in one housing, as in the first Model S (front junction box). I mounted all components in a new rectangular case

I see your AC charger has 2 GIGAVAC contactors instead of the 15.3Ohm TE ones used in i3.muehlpower wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 3:37 pm that's right. Have you had the opportunity to test your CCS charging? Wiki says using larger contactors hasn't been tested yet.

Re: 1950 Mercury Lead sled
Since the car isn't ready, I haven't been able to test it on an EVSE yet, but the weld test works.
That looks like a successful test!

Re: [WIP] 1950 Mercury Lead sled
Not that anyone thinks this project is sleeping. I only have a lot of sheet metal work and little electrics. The sheet metal is pretty wide at the front. At the moment I'm working on the top chop. Will also need a few months of sheet metal work until it comes to the finish (paint).
