MachE parts already on the market!
MachE parts already on the market!
For those interested in MachE stuff, Sandy thinks it is pretty good, some of the parts are already showing up on "Car-Part".

Ford is also releasing an E-Crate motor separately.

Supply your own inverter, too. Need to figure out how to power one of these units with a Camry inverter...

Very interesting that OEMs are seeing what people are doing and catering to the demand of retrofits!
I had a conversation with VW a while ago, who are allegedly letting you tap into their supply chain, so you can buy new batteries and devices from them directly.

Re: MachE parts already on the market!
That's just what the 'classic' auto manufactures do - you could go to a Ford, Porsche, Audi etc... parts centre and order a new engine if you wanted/needed, or whatever car part. Seems only Tesla who are restricting what you can buy, like restricting sale of the £20 - £30 pyro fuse so second hand prices are crazy.janosch wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 11:47 am Very interesting that OEMs are seeing what people are doing and catering to the demand of retrofits!

Re: MachE parts already on the market!
Hey Guys, I have a ford E crate Eluminator motor that I plan to FOC tune with the prius gen 3 inverter. Does anyone have experience with this motor? Ford does not provide any information at all with the motor. Especially nothing about the connector or pinout for the resolver connections or the pole count. I plan to follow Damien's FOC tuning guide to determine all of this information and will share my findings/parameters once I have the motor spinning.

... You're kidding... What good is selling someone a motor without any inverter at all and then not tell them a blasted thing about the actual motor itself. There are a LOT of parameters that they ought to know and be able to tell people. What is the inductance of the stator? How many poles is the motor? What is the max RPM, what is the back EMF at 1000RPM, etc. That's not to mention how they would need to specify the pinout of everything as well. Imagine you bought a TV and nothing was labeled. Even the power runs through the same big harness as the HDMI, etc. Who would buy a TV like that? I feel like the decision makers at Ford have really gotten a closed head injury of some sort if they believe that's acceptable. I feel like the big 3 could EASILY crush Tesla at any point in time. They've just got to get out of their own way and they can't seem to do that.invokeperformance wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 10:29 pm Hey Guys, I have a ford E crate Eluminator motor that I plan to FOC tune with the prius gen 3 inverter. I couldn't agree more thankfully Openinverter exists thanks Damien and Johu!!collin80 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 23, 2022 12:44 am... You're kidding... Also Damien I will follow the commandment lol
Re: MachE parts already on the market!
As I mentioned previously in this thread - all the 'classic' auto makers will sell you any parts from their parts department - including engines/gearboxes/motor/batteries/inverters etc... This 'crate' motor from Ford is just that - with a bit of marketing spin! More like a 'long block crate motor' - It's not sold as a 'turn key - crate motor'collin80 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 23, 2022 12:44 am... You're kidding... It's only Tesla who won't sell you a motor or inverter - 'right to repair' anyone!
It's not like buying a TV - it's like buying a new power supply/screen etc.. to fix you current TV.
Re: MachE parts already on the market!
Hey just joined, about to pull trigger to purchase Eluminator. Like to hear your journey of how you get this drive unit running!

Re: MachE parts already on the market!
The only people I know at the moment with Eluminator motor info is AEM. They actually used a Tesla subframe and installed an Eluminator motor in it and put it in another S197 Mustang like I built and they bought from me. They used a lot of my ideas in the Eluminator Mustang build which I like as it keeps the ball rolling to building EV's. I believe they used the Cascadia motor controller and a VCU200 to run it. Hopefully a gen 3 prius converter will work with it. Cascadia is the gold standard and that's what they want for it, a lot of gold. Remember the Ford E-crate motor is not real powerful and there is no posi yet. A lot of peg leg burn outs.
Re: MachE parts already on the market!
Old thread reignited. Anybody getting an Eluminator running?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: MachE parts already on the market!
I too joined the challange! I grabbed the motor at $3,350 from Ford performance and delivered to a nearby dealership for pickup at $3,500. I am a fabricator and will be building a new chassis for my '90 Bronco II 2WD. I am parts searching and reasearching and reaseaching, but i will find the correct inverter to run this. Hope someone follows this thread.
