Re: L210 gearbox
Shouldn't you be able to run a GS300h CVT from a Prius Gen3 inverter with the dual-motor board installed? At least, that's what I was hoping I could do.

Re: Toyota Auris and Yaris Inverter Logic board
When it comes to paralleling the inverter MG1 and MG2 outputs is there any particular way those connections should be made? Create three short cables to link MG1 inverter output to MG2 output. Then link MG2 output to the motor? Or, two separate runs? One from MG1 inverter output to the motor and an...

Re: L210 gearbox
Had a few minutes at lunch there and popped open the output end to see what's going on. Here is the output end. The planet carrier is directly connected to the output flange. If you look closely, you can also see splines on the inside there. These mate with the output shaft from the ICE/MG1 stuff up...

Re: L210 gearbox
That’s great news on the oil pump! That means that it is purely mechanical and we don’t need an external pump. We are only lubricating bushings/bearings, so no oil pressure at stand still is fine. I’m sure Toyota planned it this way. If Toyota has stuck to their typical ratios, the PSD is about 2.6...

Did some more puzzling over the GS300h CVT today, see the L210 thread for more info.
Also started breaking down the BMW battery pack.

Re: L210 gearbox
MG1 will spin backwards if you lock the input shaft. When you do this does the one way clutch spin the oil pump? Check the output shaft to make sure you are spinning the correct direction. Yep, if I spin MG2 (by turning the output shaft) clockwise (looking at it from the input shaft end) and hold t...

Re: 1965 Ford Mustang
Following with interest! I run a Mustang books, gifts, and parts store on eBay, but have recently moved over to driving an EV... this project seems the best of both worlds :) Let me know if you need anything from OER/Classic Industries (formerly California Mustang) once you've got the drivetrain so...

Re: 1965 Ford Mustang
I've been busy spilling transmission fluid all over the place today. To have a look at what's going on inside this GS300h CVT A209D013-735C-4A5B-BBBE-345556120646_1_105_c.jpeg I need to think it over a bit more and check my logic, but it looks like I can use this CVT. Check out the L210 thread for a...

Re: L210 gearbox
A little earlier I took the MG1 end (bell housing) off of my L210. It was actually very straightforward. The only tricky (messy) part was that you have to take the oil pan off to access three of the bolts. A209D013-735C-4A5B-BBBE-345556120646_1_105_c.jpeg Everything is the same as the GS450h CVT as ...

3B91146B-7AF3-4CA9-897F-28CB87FCFA96_1_105_c.jpeg One of these has landed in my garage. At least, I hope that's what it is. It was listed as from a 2015 GS300h. Also came with the damper which will come in very handy if I go the input shaft locking route. I guess if the ICE is turning the oil pump,...

Re: 1965 Ford Mustang
Im doing the exact same conversion to my '65 mustang. Im using a 2014 spark battery though that might change. Just a heads up, you're going to have to cut the transmission tunnel to make the gs450h transmission fit, as it is massive compared to the original one. Cool! Yeah, I was just moving things...

Re: 1965 Ford Mustang
I got my hands on an inverter last week and finally got it open this evening. I wasn't paying very close attention and only realised that it was from a Prius Aqua (or Prius C). But, now, having cracked it open, and consulted the wiki it looks to have the same board numbers as the Yaris. Top badge : ...

Opening a Prius inverter case
OK, I feel like a right dummy. I'm struggling to get the case open on my inverter. I've scored all around the seal to try and find a pry point or somewhere to get some purchase, but no luck. I've checked a dozen times that I've not missed any bolts. I can't see any gentle way to get this open and I ...

Re: 1965 Ford Mustang
I'll also need to do something about the steering and brakes. Both are manual. But, most worrying of all is the way the steering works. It has one long 19mm diameter steel bar running from the steering box all the way up to steering wheel. Bit of a nightmare in a crash. Hot Rod Magazine did a good ...

[WIP] 1965 Ford Mustang
Hello all, Kicking off a thread on my project. A few years back I bought myself a 1965 Ford Mustang. Here it is the day after I bought it. You can still see the rope attached from where a friend very generously helped me tow it home. There was just a minor issue with the distributor. EDE68DE3-0328-4...
