Re: [WIP] MX-5 NB Tesla SDU
Really impressive build!
When I was converting my Mazda MX-3 i came across some people trying to convert Miata MX-5. I think from Australia. We had a debate about Mazda using transmission as a carrying member against chassis twisting in the turns. That would explain the lightness of the chassis ...

Re: [WIP] MX-5 NB Tesla SDU
Been busy at work, but also spent a lot of time in CAD on the battery box designs. This is what I've come up with so far:

Re: [WIP] MX-5 NB Tesla SDU
I'm doing an NA with a model 3 motor and more or less came to similar conclusions. Are you in a country that allows for modification of the body? you will very likely need a mount at the back end of the battery box that bolts through or is welded to the chassis. best of luck with the build! I ...

Re: [WIP] MX-5 NB Tesla SDU
Sooo a little update. It's been a while, but there has been progress. I have spent quite a few hours in CAD designing the motor mounts and this is what I came up with:

Hi,
My name is Stefan and I'm converting an MX-5! I have been driving one for the past 8 years and I didn't feel like touching that one, so I bought another

Hi,
I opened a Corsa-E battery pack today and all went well, except I noticed this 'greasy' spot on the bottom of the shell. The highest point is underneath a plastic bit of the fuse/contactor but it extends to underneath the battery modules. At first I thought it might be coolant but it doesn't ...

160kW leaf performance at low voltage
Hi!
I am going to be converting an mx-5 using a 160kW leaf stack. The idea is to put it all in the rear subframe and go straight to the wheels using the leaf gearbox. According to my calculations this would mean a top speed of around 130kph at 10k rpm.
I want to use the full potential of the ...

Re: 160kW Leaf with Zombieverter and..
Yes good point. I will have to check that but I think it will be okay before 2026. I have some experience with ev conversions using EMUS which is certified, but I am looking at other options now to make use of the pdm and save quite some costs. Might not be smart but I will figure out the ...

Re: 160kW Leaf with Zombieverter and..
I'm based in the Netherlands.
Yeah forgot about that. So that would mean Zombie + evs-bms would be an option(i imagine that works when you set the bms parameter in zombie to simp?) Most elegant solution would be to program 1 thing that can do it all ofcourse, but right now I can't really gauge how ...

Re: 160kW Leaf with Zombieverter and..
Thank you both for the replies. I remember coming across your evs products but somehow didn't notice them in my last few searches.
If I were to use your vcu, what options would I miss? I can use the meb slaves and control the motor, but not the dcdc and charger which zombie would be able to do ...

Re: 160kW Leaf with Zombieverter and..
Okay I see. I am only familiar with EMUS so far which controls the contactors and the thunderstruck vcu that only drives the motor. However, I'd like to use the charger and dcdc from the leaf and the vw slaves to save costs.
Regarding simpBMS, is there a new project going on now or would there be ...

Hi!
I want do to a conversion with a 160kW EM57. I am trying to figure out what would be the best (or rather most cost effective) combination of vcu, charger, dcdc, bms and batteries.
I think Zombieverter would be a good choice as that would allow me to use the leaf charger and dcdc,
