Re: Use ESP32 Web interface also as GVRET CAN device?
So I tried to simply flash the ESP32-S3-Pico using Arduino with the https://github.com/uhi22/wifican code, but there is an error message regarding Flags when I verify the code before flashing. Has something changed in the code? Here is the message - Compilation error: redefinition of 'int esp_intr_f...

Re: Use ESP32 Web interface also as GVRET CAN device?
Could I run this setup on a Esp32-s3-pico board?
That way, I could connect original ESP32-S3 to my cluster setup, and the Pico one to Crocodile clip.
I will need to then give the 2 networks different names and see what the Crocodile is sending out as data.

Re: Use ESP32 Web interface also as GVRET CAN device?
So, thought I would move this discussion here because I think my setup is linked to the ESP32 config, and hope to find a work around to use the CAN Crocodile with it. If I connect a second CAN Transceiver in parallel to the initial one setup with wifican, the Bus seems to shut down. This is when con...

Re: Reverse engineering OEM Hardware
So got,to play around with CanCrocodile today. From what I understand, in order for the CAN Bus on my instrument cluster setup to function, it requires the ESP32-S3 with wifican and CAN transeiver to be connected - a closed loop. The cluster then sends out CAN data. I see the chassis number passing ...

Re: Reverse engineering OEM Hardware
Thanks @uhi22. I'm running your wifican setup. Its working great and I'm mucking about with it to understand things better. I purchased a CANcrododile to read data from working EV's without a physical connection to the can bus. The pickup sensor (crocodile clip) doesn't have an interface, so need to...

Re: Reverse engineering OEM Hardware
So, I got my CANcrocodile, along with an ESP32-S3-Pico board. My wonderful friend CHATgpt just doesn't seem to be able to dumb things down enough for me to create an interface to use the CANcrocodile to sniff the CAN Bus. Looking for a real person to come to the party...please and thankyou.

Re: MQB & MLB Can log Request - For Zombieverter Comm Additions
Got savvycan running. Crocodile clip (for J1708 protocol) arrived. I'll see if it can be used for CAN logs. I tried it on a bench setup cluster and the data seems identical to the hardwire setup with wifican.

Re: MLBEvo DBC & LIN Files
@uhi22, I started creating a dbc file, but I am missing some info. What do I fill into the Value 'box' after creating a new 'message'?
When I fill in the complete 8 bits or 1 bit, the file doesn't seem to register them. Am I to convert the data I have found in the Fuzzing mode?

Any suggestions as to a reliable"crocodile" contactless can sniffer/reader. I'm sure there are alternatives to the over the counter solutions.

So, I was too eager to get CAN sniffing and ordered a Crocodile reader for J1708 and not CAN. Back to surfing again.

Re: E-tron HVJB
So now that I have SavvyCan running, I hooked up firstly the SX6 main board, which swithes the various HV relays, and then the Shunt board which measures Isolation. Using the Fuzzing mode, I managed to get a few ID's out of them. I hope they can be some use to us for decoding.... Please let me know ...

Re: MLBEvo DBC & LIN Files
Getting ahead of myself. So once we have a few new ID's identified, we need to create a 'board' to interface with the newly 'decoded' component?

Re: MLBEvo DBC & LIN Files
This is a typical example - I have isolated 2 Lamps that I can switch On and Off. I have saved the logs and wouuld like to convert them to a DBC file. Do I need to do it manually for each CAN message?
Oops, can't attach as it is in .fsd . I will try to convertit tomorrow.

Re: MLBEvo DBC & LIN Files
Yes I've had a look at those thanks. This is all practice before getting into the VW charger integration on my project. What I am trying to get to understand is how to go from recorded data from a working vehicle (or bench setup) to creating a dbc file that's readable. Afterthat, I am looking for li...

Re: Reverse engineering OEM Hardware
Still waiting on that CanCrocodile. In the meantime.....I managed to capture some data and also identify the ID's that switch on lights and command the Rev counter. This is a huge step for me into understanding CAN and the bits and Bytes. So now what? I'm looking at DBC links from previous posts, bu...

I can confirm transmitting works on Bus 3 !!!! Huge thanks @uhi22 !!!
I started with some Fuzzing and found my ID for RPM - 0x280. I'll play around now to see how to select and hone in on bit values.
