Re: Current limit hit with encoder connected

Previously, I modified gate driver to increase gate resistor to 23Ohm (added resistor in parallel with 10ohm gate resistors). The IGBT spec sheets recommended higher gate resistance for 1.5us dead time. After replacing TVS diode and shortening the connectors from driver boards to IGBT, I started ...

Current limit hit with encoder connected

I have several potential threads of issues ,but I am going to mind-dump it all out and hope someone can scan through and ID the real culprits worthy of their own threads .

I’m having trouble getting motor to spin with encoder connected. I have blown up two IGBTs, and each time, the failed IGBTs ...

Re: Potnom won’t increase past 0% [SOLVED]

My Udc reads roughly 310 with pack connected. It was 3.1v with pack disconnected when I was just playing around with throttle parameters.
I was a little overly cautious with playing with some of the parameter values... and yet I was not cautious enough with experimenting with most other hardware ...

Potnom won’t increase past 0% [SOLVED]

When I increase my throttle from (roughly) half-throttle to full throttle, the potnom value stays at 0%. Is this normal or an easy parameter fix? I will try a different Hall effect sensor and slide potentiometer to see if the problem is repeatable. I got motor to spin w/ start 2 testing but haven’t ...

Re: Gate driver PMW intermittent signal

Finally have a good looking pwm signal, clean and steady. After uploading all .bin files and restoring default parameters, I unexpectedly got a good 50% duty pwm. I suspect the problem was caused by me initially configuring my voltage (udcnom, etc) then disconnecting the voltage source during pwm ...

Re: Gate driver PMW intermittent signal

After 9hrs of rest, i turned inverter on and picked up a duty cycle waveform that held, but after a few minutes, it started to disappear intermittently like this morning. Eventually i couldnt see a pwm signal. When it did appear, the pwm looked the same as the first round of successful testing...the ...

Gate driver PMW intermittent signal

I scoped all six gate driver PWM signals a few weeks ago. The signals didnt look like your YouTube instructions, so I tested again recently. I was probing around the gate driver board and suddenly the signal started looking strange. It is possible this happened when I was measuring with two probes ...

New opamp took care of it. Voltage sensor is reading test voltage accurately. Thank you Johannes!

Re: Sensor not reading test voltage [SOLVED]

Finally able to get the voltage sensor board to recognize test voltages. My new problem: udc decreases when I increase test voltage. Is there an easy fix? Swap resistors R7 and R8 for potentiometers?

With udcgain=1, udcofs set to zero-out the udc reading for test voltage disconnected, then when i ...

Re: Sensor not reading test voltage [SOLVED]

I replaced the opamp (with mouser part no. 595-OP344NA/3K) and measured voltage between Si8920 pin 6 & 7 was .035v and 0.268v with 0 test voltage and 78V test voltage, respectively. J2 pin 2 is reading 4.97V always. I am not testing shorts on any opamp pins. I will use rework station to remove opamp ...

Re: Sensor not reading test voltage [SOLVED]

With 78v test voltage applied, measured 3.77V between isolator/Si8920 (IC1) pins 8 & 7. With no test voltage applied, measured 3.89V between isolator pins 8 & 7.

I measured 95.8 ohm across R4, a 10k resistor, which connects to opamp pins 2&3. When i removed R4, i measured 96.9 ohm across opamp pin ...

Sensor not reading test voltage [SOLVED]

In my blind eagerness of getting inverter assembled and tested, i realized resistor R5 was missing from voltage sense board. I didnt notice until after running voltage configuration test with 320v connected. JOHU had doubts a missing R5 would destroy the board.
With R5 installed on volt sense board ...
