Re: Sending Custom CAN messages from SDU openinverter board
Thanks for your note. I have deleted all CAN mapping and tried for just the sole inverter temp and get nothing. Both by a direct entry in the table, and as a command. You're right, that is the only gauge I'm running for temperature around the motor. Time to get it up on the rack and dig into the CAN...

Re: Sending Custom CAN messages from SDU openinverter board
I have confirmed CAN speed at 500K. Attaching JSON for any other suggestions. I must access CAN wiring from under car with weather shield removed (yes, design feature we won't repeat) so I haven't gotten there yet (with CAN sniffer, that is). While looking at JSON, if there are any settings you'd su...

Re: Sending Custom CAN messages from SDU openinverter board
Hello, Thanks for all the help this forum has provided. The electric Fiero has achieved about 800 miles with the SDU, OI board, charger interface board and Orion BMS. Only a few pesky kinks, one of which is CAN messaging from OI board. I have Speedhut CAN Gauges and all but the motor temperature are...

Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread
I’ve been playing with my freshly installed charger today. You’re right, it needs the 12v a few seconds before AC. I’m going to leave mine permanently connected and work towards having the DCDC kick in when the 12v battery dips too low (also for running the water pump during charging). Hi - did you...

Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread
Finally got the CAN messages. Thanks for your patience. We have the unit charging, however, PIN 1 is not outputting 12V when AC is present, so we are manually jumpering it to complete our BMS requirements. Any ideas why PIN 1 is not outputting 12V? Thanks, once again, for any suggestions you can off...

Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread
Sorry, where can I access the can log? We can't seem to find any options in the interface to grab one.

Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread
A bit more information.
The board is not outputting any of the required voltages on connector A. No "OUT2 - AC present" on pin A1, in other words. A6 has nothing either.
Thanks, in advance, for any suggestions you can offer.

A view of us trying the second charger, feeding 12V to pin three to turn on power modules.

Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread
It is a Gen2 Tesla charger with an EVBMW board. Orion BMS. Even when we set it up in "bench test" mode (separate from BMS "control"), it behaves the same way. We've tried our backup charger too. Same results. Board powers, charger modules light up, no DC voltage coming out. We ar...

Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread
Thanks Johu!
I had the soldering done by a local PCB manufacturer. He's pretty darn talented. The only solder I did myself was the termination jumper.
I can inspect the board under magnification, any other suggestions to search out the issue?

Solder looks good. I heated it up and added solder to both sides again, just in case.
Thanks for your help here!

Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread
Had my ZeroEV board working in the Gen2 Tesla charger and have changed settings utilizing Putty multiple times in recent weeks. All was functioning fine. Today as I was updating the cooling system I went to increase the testing amperage of 5. After quitting Putty and disconnecting, I was not able to...
