Im slashing prices to $150 a unit.
I designed a new BMS that I plan on commercially selling that is compatible with the ZEVA system (same CAN bus format) but uses ICs that I have a 10 year commitment on so I no longer have any real use for these.

Private messagedTito wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 10:28 am Ok. I know about the different protocol but I'm positive the EVMS can be reflashed to V3. If not I'll source a V3 or have one made as they are open source now. But i'll take care of that.
Can you do a good deal for me with shipping 7 of them to the Netherlands?

Re: ZEVA BMS24 System
Hi! Messaged you on eBay. Just curious, will these work with the ZEVA BMS directly or do they need reflashing? It’s for expanding a battery system currently equipped with the V2 system (but I think they allow reflashing to V3) I would need 7 units. I will be doubling the 10 battery modules to 20 bu...

Re: Gen 1 vs Gen 2 BMS help
Are you sure you are working with gen 2 BMS? I'm pretty sure that BMS isn't distributed. Can you add some pictures of your test setup?

Re: ZEVA has gone "open sorce"
LTC6803 introduced a CRC so you would need to add to the driver code in order to use it. however is pin compatible so no PCB changes. I bought a bunch of ltc6802-2 from an Alibaba IC sourcing company since their min order quantity was 50 units. They have all worked flawlessly so far and I have so ma...

Re: ZEVA BMS24 System
KimchiKimKim, I love the overall design of these boards, (thank you Ian Hooper). But I have never been keen on the terminal connector with the screws only a mm away from each other. A potential short circuit could occur. Do you know of a different connector to the black ones that have say crimped o...

Re: ZEVA BMS24 System
Have you or are you going to create the Zeva current sensors? I have bought the Zeva system for my car to install once I get to that stage, so I am very glad you have created these items :) Yes, I will. These require a complete redesign since the current sensor used is extremely old and very diffic...

ZEVA BMS24 System
Awhile back I made a bunch of BMS24 units for a project that has to monitor a ton of parallel groups. I ended up selling the battery pack and dropped it to 96 cells so I have a ton of extra BMS units left over. Since they are based on the hard-to-find LTC6802 IC I hand-calibrated and assembled them ...

Re: ZEVA has gone "open sorce"
Not using salvaged EV cells - I've using Boston Power Swing 5300 cells built up into 4S9P modules... Hi, its taken 6 months of waiting, but I finally have the Zeva pcbs made and now populated with the BMS and ATMega chips. Thanks very much to Ian Hooper for making this design available! I couldn't ...

Re: Orion BMS - High Side Driver
Any resistors on the input to pull it to a steady state? Do not want any EMC noise or start up weirdness causing unwanted behaviour. Interesting point. When reading the datasheet of my switches they seem to take care of this internally. You're right it couldn't hurt to add this though but since it ...

Re: Original Orion vs Orion 2 query
They are almost identical functionality-wise. One of the key differences is the j1772 integration on ORION 2 and the ORION 2 is also way smaller.
If you can get a good deal I would definitely go with the ORION 1.

Orion BMS - High Side Driver
Hi, The Orion BMS uses low-side switches as output for the BMS but the max output is 100ma (not enough to drive anything serious). I made a board that solves this problem. Probably could save money and skip caps but I used them since my BMS is super far away from my 12v battery (across the car) to p...

Re: Tesla Charger alternative firmware
Having an issue right now where my gen 2 Tesla OBC with the latest firmware from Patreon. The parameters do not save on a power cycle. The charger works but I need to manually set parameters every time I turn it on via the web interface. Does anyone know a workaround? I'm thinking about compiling a ...

Re: EVControls TC-1 Teardown
Called up EV controls. They state that without the logic board I'm straight out of luck as they do not reflash more than one control board per unit sold. Man, I really wish someone would post the CAN firmware update sequence for updating the drive unit. I've been looking into doing this for a while ...

Re: EVControls TC-1 Teardown
I bought a new display and the touch is restored! Looks like the guy basically gave me a TC-1 for free since the replacement resistive touch panel was less than 20bucks from buydisplay.com Unfortunately, there is nothing in settings or options for firmware updating. I think the fuse they set might b...

EVControls TC-1 Teardown
I bought a broken TC-1 to teardown and show whats going on inside. The design is super weird - using high-side drivers to drive relays but not just driving 12v outputs with them directly. Also, everything is hand soldered and there were even solder balls running around inside! They are using a Mikro...
