I think my metal fabrication abilities are close to zero - I would definitely go for as simple as possible on the assembly, and am probably naive in hoping the MGR might turn out to be a near perfect fit to some cars.

I'm not looking for super sporty handling - I'm happy with the Nissan Leaf which is nippy even though ours is almost always in the power limiting eco mode, which I only turn off when I want more power (usually just joining a busy motorway/dual carriage way). Another idea, if you have the ear of your local EV garage, get them to email the MP too. And perhaps HEVRA (Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Repair Alliance Ltd.) might back this too? https://www.hevra.org.uk/
