I'm new and learning. FDU question

I happen to have a Model S front drive unit and have been noodling a project with it. I read that it can only be run as slave but I see some comments here that imply that it can be run with the RDU board as a single motor.
Can someone clear this up for me?

Hi and welcome!

It will run with this board: https://openinverter.org/shop/index.php ... duct_id=62

Thanks much!
I still have a lot to learn but this is encouraging.

To further illuminate:

Pre 2017-ish, Tesla had a pretty clear set of drive units. There were two basic architectures, dubbed Large and Small, and each had two variants. The Large had a Base and Sport, and the Large was only ever used in the rear of the S/X. The Larges were the same externally, with different inverter internals. The Small had Front and Rear. The Smalls have different external cases, but similar/the same internals.

Post 2017-ish, things seem to get a bit confusing as they began integrating the Model 3 style drive units into the Model S/X. I have not yet seen a good outline of when and what motors went into the S/X in recent years. It's probably something we need to work on.
