Here is a quick presentation of our project : Volta, a race retrofit with a team of 25 students from Estaca, our Engineering uni in France.
We have been learning from this forum for a while now, it is now time for our first post, here are some specs :
- Motor : Tesla SDU rear
- Inverter board : Openinverter V8 SDU drop-in logic board
- Battery : Custom pack from 8 VW "MEB 12s" modules
- BMS : Lithium balance with add-ons from ev-create
- VCU : Motec M150-EV (simulink controlled)
- Chassis : Original 208 Racing Cup (still FWD)
The project is comming along nicely, we have all the components and are working on mechanical integration and programming the VCU at the moment.
Of course, we do have our fair share of problems, with some that we are able to resolve through research, others less. We will probably start asking some questions on the forum, mainly about the SDU inverter board.
We have many ideas about interesting mod ideas for the future as brake/regen maps with our IBooster, traction control with abs sensors repurposed as speed sensors, etc...
On the sporting side, our main objective is to race a season in a touring car championship in France in 2025. Our first public outing should be this september on a hill climb if we are able to have the car working/safe by then.
We're of course happy to get any piece of advice or answer any questions ! Thanks !
