Prius Gen 3 Inverter Connector Pin Out Dumbed Down
as I take on my Toyota Prius Gen 3 EV Conversion I would like to share some dumbed down wiring diagrams that my pea sized brain can wrap itself around
I have subscribed to ALLData.com so that you wouldn't have to for the 2010 Prius diagrams and schematics, and I must admit it aint the greatest, I will share all that I can
for example here is the extent of their Engine Compartment - Wire Routing, I kid you not that's as detailed as it gets as far as diagrams (not actual wiring schematics)

Re: Prius Gen 3 Inverter Connector Pin Out Dumbed Down
so here is my first attempt, I realized after I done did this I should have actually used color for the different wire colors, so I may do a Rev 2.
Note: not all the pins are used on this 36 pin connector (not used pins: 13, 19-26)

2010 Toyota Prius MG1 Wiring Diagram
this black plug goes to the Inverter it is the small section of the rectangular plug (circled in red in the dumbed down wiring diagram below)
FYI the "production crew" at my local junk yard cut this harness not I
this gray plug goes to MG1 resolver (pronounced: motor sensor) on the top of the transmission

2010 Toyota Prius MG2 Wiring Diagram
this is a short, about 2 foot long stock wiring harness that connects the black plug to MG2 resolver on the butt of the transmission and the other end runs to the small square plug of the larger rectangular Inverter connector, this MG2 black plug does not have temp sensor wires in it, for that it uses a separate two wire little black plug / harness that plugs in just above the MG2 high voltage orange cable

2010 Toyota Prius Inverter Power Connections Wiring Diagram
these are the wires you need to connect to provide 12 volts from the regular car battery via a 10A fuse for protection of course to power on the Inverter
the two green wires just end up being one red wire
you can take the two white/black stripe wires and join them together and extend them with a black wire and run it to a chassis ground

Re: Prius Gen 3 Inverter Connector Pin Out Dumbed Down
so I bought a Toyota Prius Gen 3 transmission wire harness what Toyota calls "Engine Wire" part # 82121-47113 from a small local wrecker for $100 bucks
this has the MG1 and MG2 resolver plugs and the small part of the Inverter rectangular plug, and the parking pawl actuator plug
this does not have the Inverter Rectangular plug on it

Re: Prius Gen 3 Inverter Connector Pin Out Dumbed Down
I still think that was very much worth it, you can find them for less on eBay listed as parts only if you know which plugs are which, hoping the broken connectors are not the ones we need

Re: Prius Gen 3 Inverter Connector Pin Out Dumbed Down
I found this shielding very interesting on the Inverter harness which I also went out and bought

someone smarter than me can explain what this is for, I'm guessing some sort of interference

Re: Prius Gen 3 Inverter Connector Pin Out Dumbed Down
Had seen that this part if the loom , transgresses over MG1 and MG2 phase connections quite closely...
There is shielding screen on the phase wires also, so is belts and braces good practice I guess.
Very informative post here, will be great resource for Prius related vehicles..Well done. That is all real Smart..
