Hi Folks,
I have an E-Golf battery pack that I have broken down to its 4S and 2S batteries and I am trying to work out the connections so I can build my own packs.
I have got so far but would like someone to check my thinking.
There are three types of batteries in this pack. Smart 4S (with BMS), 4S dumb and 2S dumb.
I am now trying to get my head around how a Smart 4S is connected to the dumb batteries.
If all of the batteries were dumb, the order wouldn't matter but the BMS makes the order important.
These are my findings.
1) A 4S with BMS can have up to 8S of dumb connected to it.
2) In a string of batteries, the Smart 4S must be the most -ve.
Am I right with the above?
Thanks very much,
Andy.
E-Golf battery pack. Please check my thinking.

This thread has findings in it regarding the modules connections.

Re: E-Golf battery pack. Please check my thinking.
Thank you tom91,
I have seen that thread and it has a lot info info and does imply point 2 but it doesn't say it. My unravelling of a wiring loom implies it too but I was hoping for a second opinion as I want to start putting my pack together but also because I want to add the missing info to the wiki and don't want to give anyone the wrong info.
I have drawn up a section of the wiring loom. This piece connects four dumb 2S batteries to a 4S smart battery.
The four are connected to the connectors I have labelled "Blue 1", "Blue 2" etc. Then the smart battery is connected to "Red 1" and "Black 1".
Although I am confident I have got the wires correct, I have no way to know if "Blue 1" is the most +ve of the dumb packs or the most -ve. I am not even sure that they run in order (though they probably do)
Please can anyone help?
Thanks,
Andy.

Thanks,

The smart module is most negative in the series.
The blue connectors run in order.
Measuring from the smart module positive to the slave cells
White cell1 positive (blue1)
Yellow cell2 positive (blue1)
..
And so on like your drawing, its good.
..
So the blue4 connector in your picture with green and grey wires,
is most positive in the module series.
When connecting check the voltages are correctly rising from the red connector before inserting it to the smart module to prevent any damage.
