Are there not factory LSD options that can work instead of buying new?andybpowell wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 1:57 pm now my diff is on the way I'm really tempted to order a lsd for it in fact I'm on the Matt Lewis racing site with it in the basket right now trying to be sensible and really struggling because I really really want it

Re: [WIP] BMW Z3
since it was a little moist outside I treated the diff to a spin in the media blaster and a few coats of paint
just need to drop the old one and swap them over the slightly better ratio was hardly worth bothering with 3.45 to 3.38 but every little bit helps

Re: [WIP] BMW Z3
Diff is in and it was an absolute pig the bolts were really hard to access and some idiot (me) put them in really tight with threadlock, but its all in just need to refill with oil and torque up the driveshaft bolts

Over 300A Can you get a Amp and UDC graph at some point? Things are starting to look good.
Wonder how much more the limit can go up by.

Re: [WIP] BMW Z3
From those plots it is now hitting the 100kW limit as I set in the code. Will need to look at tweaking things more once your car is more sorted.

Re: [WIP] BMW Z3
hopefully I can have it usable quite quickly. I have the bms partially working it's reporting high and low cell voltages though it's not reporting the number of cells for some reason but I have done a major hack job on your simpbms code (sorry Tom) So I may start again with that as it's been through many changes, the charging is all working other than tidy the wiring and sort the rev light it'll be ready to go

Re: [WIP] BMW Z3
Looks like this won’t be an option for me as the longest ratio rx8 diff is 4.3! Lol will be interesting to see what top end you manage

Re: [WIP] BMW Z3
I'm slowly chipping away at the outstanding jobs, charging is now working properly and it's currently on charge, the bms is working (90%) well enough so I can have some feedback during testing, and all of the important data is being shown on my nextion display so just the rev light and tidy the wiring

Re: [WIP] BMW Z3
I have a SimpBMS and just got a 24kWh X5 pack too. Are there many changes to the BMWPhevBMS to get it working with the X5 pack? Is it mainly around identifying the extra modules on the CAN bus?

Re: [WIP] BMW Z3
I did have it all working when it was all laid out in my garage thanks to Tom De Bree, this is the information he sent me
In code
https://github.com/Tom-evnut/BMWPhevBMS ... hevBMS.ino
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
void sendcommand() //Send Can Command to get data from slaves
{
///////module id cycling/////////
if (nextmes == 6) {
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6 is the modules amount, so change it to 12 as the modules are 0 to 11 .
But I'd hacked the code on my simpbms so much I decided to start again but now with it in the car I'm having some problems it seems to work fine when charging but when driving it seems to have some issues I need to investigate it further it may be down to all of the other canbus traffic on the same bus when in drive mode

Thanks for the reply, smaller change than I was expecting so! I hope to get to this on the bench at the weekend

Re: [WIP] BMW Z3
Slight issue with this is that the final XOR for making the command correct for the numbers above 6 wont be correct, but if Andy has gotten the modules reporting the info this is all good.
It is possible that balancing will not work, this has not been proven yet.

Re: [WIP] BMW Z3
I didn't look in depth at it to be honest it's reporting 96 cells and high and low voltages I'll have a closer look tomorrow if I get a chance

had a quick look from what i can see it looks fine no idea about balancing thoughtom91 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 9:58 pm Slight issue with this is that the final XOR for making the command correct for the numbers above 6 wont be correct, but if Andy has gotten the modules reporting the info this is all good.
