The property is off grid
using a Prius as a generator to power an off grid tiny home
Inverter being used: Aurora PVI6000
Prius traction battery voltage: 220 DC
Ran wire from Prius to pvi6000
Inverter turned and said "Missing Grid"
This is grid tie inverter and needs to be connected to grid for it to pump extra electricity to
How can I utilize the capability of this inverter to take the high voltage direct current and turn it into 240AC?
My idea: get battery bank and turn it into 240AC, plug that into the grid tie inverter, and it will think it has a grid, and any excess electricity will be stored in those batteries
Will this solve the problem of using grid tie inverter in off grid situation?

Re: Make grid tie inverter work off grid, being fed by high voltage Prius
I will release a video soon. Today I connected a Chinese "Grid Tie Inverter" to the Chinese offgrid inverter in Touran. The grid tie synchronized to the offgrid one. Will try tomorrow if the more conforming micro inverters from my solar system will also synchronize with it.

I have used a grid emulating inverter before to do exactly that, the one I used was a Dowell iPower, some inverters are fussy and check the ground to neutral connection so that must be checked.

One thing to have in mind is, that grid tie inverters have to react on frequency changes of the grid. (at least in Germany/Europe)
As any change in load has an effect on frequency, the load/frequency control has to be rather fast I think.

Better hope the grid tie inverter also reacts to AC voltage changes, because cheap offgrid inverters surely won't implement any "frequency droop".
Random thought: If the grid tie inverter does react to voltage changes and the system still isn't stable, it could help to leave a length of wire between the offgrid and grid tie inverters, and to connect the load to the grid-tie end of that wire. Then the grid tie inverter is able to see more pronounced voltage changes when the load changes.
