What Should I Harvest from Chevy Volt?
Hi,
A local yard has a pretty in tact 2014 Chevy Volt, with various parts available. I'm thinking of getting the batteries, and using it with a 450h build I'm planning. I could probably get the batteries for $1500, that sounds like a good deal, right? My question is, are there any other parts from the volt that I should harvest as well? I'd really appreciate your thoughts.
Thanks!

I consider inverter good part. Then there is DCDC module or APM in the back. Also charger is a good unit.
You want to get the emergency disconnect between rear seats. Its 350A fuse and is convenient for servicing.
Maybe also a heater element with cables and connectors.
Then you may want to keep a coolant pump and 3 way valve.
Maybe you want to use brake booster?

Nice.
Hmmm, would I need the inverter from the Volt if I'm using the inverter from the lexus to control the motor? Any other use for it?I consider inverter good part.
Great! Good call! Is there a useful resource out there to communicate with the DCDC and the charger? Then there is DCDC module or APM in the back. Also charger is a good unit.
Will do!

That's the cabin heater, right?Maybe also a heater element with cables and connectors.
Nice, yeah, great idea. This is used for battery cooling, right? Then you may want to keep a coolant pump and 3 way valve.
Yeah, probably. I suppose this is a system that doesnt need a vacuum assist?Maybe you want to use brake booster?

Are you in US? Then you can also salvage the charging port and Volts charging cable.
No vacuum, there is a hydraulic servo inside.Yeah, probably. I suppose this is a system that doesnt need a vacuum assist?

Yes - it's quite powerful and runs the battery & cabin heating/cooling circuit.

The volt uses an Bosch iboost brake servo. If I can get it for cheap, definitely worth it. top tier ev brake system right there!
charger and dcdc converters are great small units. Worthy!
High voltage wiring harness,
-worth taking if a good price. That will give you plenty of cabling and connectors for your charger, dcdc, heater, etc.
coolent pumps!
